Senior Mine Surveyor (Open Pit)

 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Surface Survey Control Network installation and maintenance.
  • Drill and Blast hole and layout surveys.
  • Survey control of mining activities with setup and monitoring of floor levels, ramp pegs, toe and crest pegs and set up of temporary bench marks (TBMs).
  • Ore blocks mark-ups/grade control boundaries
  • Geological/Geotechnical structure surveys.
  • End of month reporting - pit surveys, stockpile surveys and volume calculations
  • Infrastructure surveys near mine
  • Water level surveys.
  • Exploration/grade control/trenching surveys
  • Any other duties as required.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in surveying Engineering
  • Minimum 5-year survey experience within metalliferous open pit mining
  • Tertiary qualified Mine Surveyor with prior experience in metalliferous open pit mining environment will be highly regarded
  • Working knowledge of Surpac mining software is essential and familiar with Trimble survey equipment (Total Station and GPS) and Leica Total Stations, will be highly regarded
  • Prior working knowledge of Auto CAD or other drafting software.
  • Experience in Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) such as drones advantageous but not essential
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs such as MS Word, Excel, Power point etc.
  • Good communication skills and team player.
  • Spoken and written English (essential)
  • Able to work in a challenging environment
