Context

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), GIZ implements a project to promote employment in the three capitals of North, West and South Darfur. The project aims at improving the livelihoods of the local population, internally displaced persons and refugees by enhancing both the demand and supply sides of the labour market. On the supply side the project strengthens the capacities of technical and vocational training providers to deliver market-oriented skills training. To complement these efforts, assistance is provided to stakeholders, including the Labour Offices in the three respective towns, who can link young job seekers to opportunities for apprenticeship, employment or self-employment. Particular attention is paid to marginalised groups such as internally displaced persons, refugees and women.
