ROLE PURPOSE: 

Child Protection Case Worker has responsibility to initiate, oversee and support the implementation of case management strategies and activities at the camp/community level. The CP Case Worker will be responsible for implementing the work of and providing guidance to the Community on case management and child protection activities. This position will be primarily responsible for conducting Best Interest Assessments (BIA), case management for vulnerable children, along with facilitating psychosocial and information sessions for children and their families 

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

 The Case Management Case Worker is a frontline Child Protection staff member responsible for providing case management services to vulnerable and at-risk children, including Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC), in line with Save the Children's Case Management, Safe Families, and Alternative Care approaches. The role supports case identification, assessment, care planning, referrals, follow-up, Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR), and case closure. S/he works directly with communities, conducts awareness-raising and behavior change activities, and promotes access to child protection and other support services.

Key Area 1: Child Protection Case Management

• Identify, register, assess, and provide case management services to vulnerable and at-risk children in accordance with Case Management SOPs and Inter-Agency Case Management Guidelines.
• Develop and implement case plans, provide direct support, facilitate referrals, and conduct regular follow-up to ensure children receive appropriate protection services.
• Manage an assigned caseload and ensure cases are documented, monitored, and closed within established timelines and standards.
• Support Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR) activities for Unaccompanied and Separated Children (UASC), including tracing, reunification, and alternative care arrangements where appropriate.
• Identify, assess, and monitor foster families and other alternative care options in line with established guidelines.
• Conduct follow-up and monitoring of cases through WGSS, CFSS, home visits, or other appropriate locations, based on the child's needs, safety considerations, and best interests. 
• Participate in case management meetings, case reviews, and case conferences as required.
• Escalate complex, high-risk, or urgent protection concerns to the Case Management Supervisor in a timely manner.

Key Area 2: Coordination and Referrals

• Collaborate with Child Friendly Space (CFS) staff, CBCPNs animators  and other stakeholders to identify and support vulnerable and at-risk children.
• Strengthen community-based referral pathways and ensure children are linked to appropriate services in a timely manner.
• Coordinate with Child Protection and other sector teams to facilitate effective internal and external referrals and follow-up of cases.
• Liaise with partner agencies and service providers to support case referrals, transfers, and continuity of care.
• Support community-based child protection mechanisms, including the capacity building and mentoring of para-social workers, as required.

Key Area 3: Data management and data protection principles 

• Maintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date case files and case management records using Inter-Agnecy approved tools and forms. 
• Ensure all case management activities comply with confidentiality, informed consent, best interests of the child, and Do No Harm principles. 
• Safeguard child protection information and adhere to organizational data protection and information-sharing protocols. 
• Submit case documentation and updates in a timely manner and support data quality and record management processes.

Be able and willing to respond to natural disasters or emergency situations, when needed and any other task assigned by Supervisor.

ESSENTIAL

• Working Experience Minimum 2-3 years of experience in Child Protection, Case Management, social work, or related humanitarian programming.
• Experience working with vulnerable and at-risk children and families.
• Knowledge of child protection principles, case management, referral pathways, and safeguarding.
• Experience coordinating with community structures and service providers.
• Good communication, facilitation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.
• Experience with UASC, Family Tracing and Reunification (FTR), or alternative care is an advantage.

Academic: Bachelor’s degree in social work, social anthropology, or another relevant discipline.

Job related knowledge:  Knowledge on child protection and emergency response.
