 Background:

ROLE PURPOSE

Case Management Supervisor has the responsibility for providing support to the team for assessment, response analysis, design, coordination, implementation and monitoring and evaluation of the child protection components of the response. Mainly s/he will be responsible for the implementation of the project by providing technical support to ensure child protection of the children in the project location; documentation of all events, program learning, process, and document good practices of response program including oversight Save the Children information flows.  

 

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Reports to: Child Protection Coordinator 

Dimensions: The Case Management Supervisor leads and supervises a team of Case Workers to deliver quality case management services for vulnerable and at-risk children, including UASC, in line with Save the Children's standards and the Step-to-Protect approach. The role oversees case management processes, including assessment, care planning, referrals, follow-up, alternative care, FTR, and case closure, while ensuring quality assurance and compliance with child protection standards. S/he serves as the focal point for case management coordination, referral pathways, and accountability, ensuring children and families access timely and appropriate support services. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Area 1: Supervision and Quality Assurance of Case Management Services

  • Supervise and support Case Workers to deliver quality case management services in line with established standards and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance on complex and high-risk cases, including UASC, FTR, and alternative care.
  • Review case plans, referrals, follow-up actions, and case files to ensure quality and timely case management.
  • Facilitate regular case management meetings, case reviews, and case conferences.
  • Coach, mentor, and monitor the performance and capacity development of Case Workers.
  • Ensure implementation of alternative care interventions, including foster care identification, assessment, and monitoring.
  • Monitor case management trends, identify challenges and risks, and escalate critical issues to the Case Management Coordinator for guidance and action.

Key Area 2: External and internal coordination and representation 

  • Maintain and regularly update service mapping and referral pathways for children and families.
  • Establish and maintain effective coordination with service providers, partner agencies, and community stakeholders to facilitate timely and appropriate referrals.
  • Strengthen links between case management, Child Protection Committees (CPCs), Child Friendly Spaces (CFS), and community-based child protection mechanisms.
  • Ensure effective internal referrals and coordination with other sectors to address children's needs comprehensively.
  • Oversee referral and case transfer processes to ensure continuity of care and follow-up.
  • Promote effective communication, collaboration, and accountability with communities, caregivers, and relevant stakeholders.

Key Area 3: Data management and data protection principles

  • Ensure Case Workers comply with confidentiality, data protection, and information-sharing protocols throughout the case management process.
  • Monitor the quality, accuracy, and completeness of case files, case management forms, and case tracking systems.
  • Oversee the secure management of case records, registers, and databases in accordance with organizational and inter-agency standards.
  • Support the implementation and effective use of CPIMS+ and other approved information management systems.
  • Ensure case management data is up to date and available for reporting and program monitoring.
  • Coordinate with MEAL and Information Management teams to support data quality, reporting, monitoring, and learning processes.

Be able and willing to respond to natural disasters or emergency situations, when needed and any other task assigned by Supervisor.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

ESSENTIAL

 

Working Experience: 

Minimum 3 years of experience in Child Protection, Case Management, or related child protection programming within humanitarian or development settings.

Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable and at-risk children, families, and communities.

Experience supervising, coaching, and supporting Case Workers or frontline staff.

Experience facilitating trainings, case reviews, meetings, and capacity-building activities.

Strong understanding of child protection, case management, referral pathways, and alternative care principles.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel, and basic information management tools.

Academic: Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Social Anthropology, Community Development, Child Protection, International Development, or another relevant social sciences discipline.

 

Job related knowledge:  Knowledge on child protection and emergency response.
