Mission 1: Strategy and steering

• Support the Project Manager in mapping existing health services in the designated health facility or area. 
• Coordinate with the Health actor or assigned health facility doctors to proper identification and Service provision.
• Ensure external referrals and follow-up, by gathering feedback on service provided for documentation. 
• Manages the reporting of the team rehabilitation sector to the Project Manager or Technical office in link with the Physiotherapy Assistants 
• Closely follow-up individual and familial cases to ensure timely follow-up of all the beneficiaries 
• Place referral of beneficiaries identified for specialized service when necessary 
• Ensure proper documentation and reporting as required by HI and TU 
• Ensure the beneficiaries sign the necessary document when the provision of items/devices. 
• Perform other tasks as requested by line management and technical unit 
• Be caring, compassionate and maintain good communication with beneficiaries at all times 
• Demonstrate ethics and professional practice 
• Respect the beneficiaries’ confidentiality. 
• Respect and promote HI’s Policies and report to your line manager any non-respect of HI’s policies amongst the teams or partners. 
• Report any incident or act that causes any harm to the beneficiary or others. 
• Always interact with children in the presence of their parents or caregivers 
• Always ask permission to touch or apply any treatment or maneuvers to someone. 
• Always respect a refusal of treatment. 
• Show abilities and competencies to execute an efficient rehabilitation intervention 

 Mission 2: Operational implementation 

Responsibility 1: Provision of Physical and Functional Rehabilitation Service

• Provide rehabilitation care to the most critical and high-priority cases according to the guidelines of HI’s emergency rehabilitation interventions 
• Prescreening and prioritization for accurate assessment, planning, and provision of appropriate Rehabilitation service to the beneficiaries, including ongoing evaluation/reassessment of the beneficiaries, within the constraints of the project resources at the Service point, the beneficiaries’ home, and where relevant.
• According to the outcomes of the assessment of the beneficiaries’ needs (considering her/his daily activities, the participation of her/his caregiver, etc.), develop an appropriate rehabilitation plan and intervention and treatment.
• Ensure rehabilitation outcomes to a person should focus on achieving and maintaining “OPTIMAL FUNCTIONING” in interaction with their environment, personal, and outcome factors.

Familiarize yourself with the global physical and functional rehabilitation approaches of the Handicap 

International Federation (Humanity and Inclusion)

Provide guidance and support to the Rehabilitation Assistants in managing cases or as needed.

Identify the beneficiary’s needs (for critical and high severity cases) in terms of assistive devices and mobility aids, as per HI guidelines

- 

Anticipate and update the need for assistive devices stock and rehabilitation equipment to the Technical 

Officer – Rehabilitation to ensure the PSR is addressed as per identified need .

Plan and utilize the local resources with the local resources according to need, work in the Local Assistive device workshop with the Workshop TO and Craftsman. 

Responsibility 3: Provision of Stimulation Therapy Services

• Lead and provide stimulation therapy services to children aged 6–59 months recovering from severe and moderate acute malnutrition, in collaboration with the nutrition and medical teams.
• Conduct developmental screening and assessment of referred children and identify children requiring stimulation therapy and/or further rehabilitation referral.
• Develop and implement individualized stimulation therapy plans based on each child’s developmental needs, functional abilities, and nutritional recovery status.
• Provide 5–7 individual stimulation therapy sessions of approximately 30–45 minutes per child, involving the child and caregiver together.
• Use age-appropriate physical, sensory, cognitive, communication, and play-based activities to support children’s motor, sensory, cognitive, language, and emotional development.
• Conduct developmental assessments during the initial and final sessions to monitor progress and document changes in the child’s developmental and functional status.
• Demonstrate and coach caregivers on simple, culturally appropriate stimulation activities that can be safely continued at home using locally available materials and Toy Box resources.
• Ensure that stimulation sessions are delivered in a safe, child-friendly, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
• Provide technical guidance and day-to-day supervision to Physiotherapy Assistants involved in the delivery of stimulation therapy.
• Mentor and coach Physiotherapy Assistants to ensure consistent application of stimulation therapy techniques, child-centred approaches, and appropriate caregiver engagement.
• Establish and maintain appropriate referral pathways with PUI and other relevant nutrition and health actors for identification, referral, and follow-up of children requiring stimulation therapy or additional rehabilitation services.
• Support training and orientation of medical staff, nurses, nutrition assistants, and other relevant frontline workers on the principles of stimulation therapy, identification of children requiring support, and referral criteria.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, referrals, follow-up, and outcomes in accordance with HI procedures and project requirements.
• Monitor the quality and continuity of stimulation therapy services and provide recommendations to improve service delivery.
• Participate in coordination meetings with the nutrition/health team and other relevant stakeholders to ensure effective integration of stimulation therapy into the management of acute malnutrition.
• Contribute to monitoring, reporting, and learning related to stimulation therapy activities, including identification of challenges, good practices, and lessons learned

Responsibility 4: With the Rehabilitation Space / Service point   in hospital or camp

• Ensure there is an adequate stock of supplies and report to the   Manager if any stocks needing replenishing 
• Ensure the rehabilitation room is always clean and tidy to ensure a professional image - Report to the Project Manager or Technical Officer   any damage or problems with the equipment. 
• Ensure OHS is in place and is followed by clinical staff. 

Mission 3: Emergency preparedness and response 

• Contributes to the programme’s emergency preparedness actions and, in an emergency, adapts his or her working methods to contribute to an effective humanitarian approach by HI.
