Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect WFP food commodities upon receipt at BFD locality warehouses and verify quantity, package integrity, expiry date, and delivery documents.
• Monitor warehouse conditions (cleanliness, ventilation, palletized stacking, moisture protection, pest control, and separation from non-food items).
• Ensure proper stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO) and support checks of stock cards, bin cards, and warehouse records with the warehouse team.
• Conduct routine and spot quality inspections in warehouses and distribution points using standard checklists and follow up corrective actions.
  Develops and implements plans and procedures for executing the distribution of food commodities in accordance with the specifications, conditions and dates agreed upon.
• Verify school dispatch quantities against approved plans and maintain traceability from WFP receipt to warehouse release and school delivery.
• Conduct regular school visits to inspect storage, kitchen hygiene, utensils, water used for cooking/cleaning, and food handling practices.
• Monitor food preparation, cooking, and serving practices in schools to ensure hygiene compliance and reduce contamination risks.
• Observe commodity use and portioning, record wastage/spoilage, and provide recommendations to improve quality and minimize losses.
• Train warehouse staff, loaders, distribution teams, school cooks, and school feeding committees on food safety, storage, hygiene, and incident reporting.
• Support investigation of food safety complaints/incidents and implement immediate containment, documentation, and escalation procedures.
• Coordinate with the Program Manager, logistics/warehouse teams, school administrations, and relevant WFP focal points on food safety and quality matters.
• Preparing and implementing quality and food safety plans for all operations.
• Identify and report damaged, expired, wet, infested, or non-conforming commodities, and ensure segregation until further instruction.
• Monitor safe loading, offloading, handling, and transport to schools, ensuring vehicles are clean, covered, and suitable for food transport.
• Undertakes the development of the food safety guide for the project and supervises the implementation of its content.
• Develop preventive health measures in accordance with principles, standards and scientific evidence based on the principle of risk analysis, in a manner that protects the health of the beneficiary students and families and implement these measures.
• Prepares periodic reports on the level of commitment to the approved plans and programs entrusted to him and determines deviations, obstacles and proposed solutions.
• Prepares and submits periodic reports in accordance with the specified and approved forms on time, and provides supporting documents.
• Documenting, preserving and archiving all documents, records and data related to his work duties.
• Performs any other tasks related to his competence and objectives.

• Fluency in written and spoken Arabic and English.

Qualification: 

• Bachelor degree in agriculture, agronomy, food security, humanitarian action or any related field. (master degree is an advantage) 

Experience:

• At least 2 years work experience in a Food safety and quality.
• Previous experience in NGO and humanitarian field is an advantage.
• Previous experience in food security program implementation is an advantage.
• Excellent computer literacy, including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Teams and ERP system.
