 Background:

Background

The Sudanese Red Crescent Society (SRCS) is a lead National society in providing quality humanitarian work, was established in 1956 and accepted into the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement as a member of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC). The SRCS operates across the Sudan with 18 branches.

The mission of (SRCS)  is to provide humanitarian aid services towards building secure and capable urban and rural communities through the transition to resilience, recovery, rehabilitation and development, in compliance with International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement Principles and guidelines and in conformity with international human rights, through a sustainable development approach where environment conservation and rationalized use of natural resources are considered top priorities to help guarantee a safe global environment for future generations.   

Overall Purpose of the Role

The social media officer will oversee SRCs digital media efforts, including websites and platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and etc. she/he will create shareable content; determining which platform is best suited for each piece of content; building and managing social media profiles and presence; planning and developing social campaigns and analyzing the performance of those campaigns; maintaining brand consistency across platforms; assessing SEO configurations; monitoring analytics; managing the digital budget; driving engagement through innovative content and fostering vendor relationships.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Planning

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive digital media and social media strategy aligned with SRCS communication objectives.
  • Identify target audiences, stakeholders, and their communication needs in coordination with the Communication Coordinator.
  • Plan and execute digital campaigns that support humanitarian programs, emergency response, and advocacy initiatives.

Content Creation & Management

  • Create, curate, and publish high-quality content across all digital platforms.
  • Ensure consistency in branding, tone, and messaging in line with SRCS guidelines.
  • Work closely with the Communication Coordinator and Graphic Design Officer and Videography Officer to conceptualize, produce, and deliver high-quality visual and multimedia content.
  • Coordinate content production workflows to ensure timely delivery aligned with campaigns and program priorities.

Platform & Website Management

  • Manage and regularly update SRCS social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X, YouTube, etc.).
  • Maintain and update the SRCS website, ensuring accurate and timely content.
  • Optimize user experience across digital channels, including landing pages and campaign microsites.

Engagement & Community Management

  • Monitor social media channels and respond to comments, messages, and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Foster community engagement and build strong relationships with followers and stakeholders.
  • Support feedback collection and audience interaction to improve communication effectiveness.

Digital Marketing & Campaigns

  • Plan, execute, and optimize paid digital campaigns across social media platforms.
  • Identify trends and insights to improve campaign performance and audience reach.
  • Manage digital advertising budgets efficiently and effectively.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Track, measure, and report performance of digital platforms using KPIs.
  • Analyze data using tools such as Google Analytics and platform insights.
  • Provide regular reports with actionable recommendations for improvement.

Partnerships & Coordination

  • Manage influencer collaborations and brand partnerships.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment between digital communication and program objectives.
  • Maintain close coordination with the Communication Coordinator and Graphic Design and Videographic officer to ensure integrated and impactful storytelling across all platforms.

 

 

 

 

Reputation & Risk Management

  • Monitor online presence and manage SRCS’s digital reputation.
  • Support crisis communication efforts during emergencies or sensitive situations.

Other Duties

  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Head of Communication or line manager.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications and Skills

  • Highly creative with the ability to design engaging, audience-focused digital campaigns that engage, inform, and motivate.
  • Proficient in marketing research and statistical analysis
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and results oriented.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Media, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3–4 years of proven experience in digital marketing and social media management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and managing multi-platform digital campaigns.
  • Solid knowledge of website and marketing analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, NetInsight, Omniture, WebTrends, SEMRush, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of major social media platforms and their advertising systems.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data.
  • Experience with analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, SEMrush, or equivalent).
  • Familiarity with social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Buffer).
  • Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web content management systems is an asset.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Arabic.

  • Video editing and graphic design skills.
  • Storytelling skills with a strong understanding of culturally relevant content.
