 Background:

Organizational Background

 

Nada Elazhar for Disaster Prevention and Sustainable Development (NADA) is a national non-governmental organization dedicated to humanitarian response, disaster prevention, protection, sustainable development, gender equality, livelihoods, health, education, WASH, psychosocial support, and community resilience across Sudan.

The organization works with vulnerable populations including women, children, internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, and host communities through humanitarian and development interventions implemented in partnership with national and international stakeholders.

 

Purpose of the Position

 

The Executive Director (ED) provides strategic leadership, vision, and overall management of NADA to ensure effective implementation of the organization’s mission, strategic objectives, governance standards, operational excellence, donor compliance, sustainability, and humanitarian impact.

The Executive Director serves as the principal representative of the organization and is responsible for strengthening institutional capacity, resource mobilization, strategic partnerships, accountability systems organizational growth and maintain excellent relationship with the Governments regulating bodies and other humanitarian bodies 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership and Organizational Management

  • Lead the development and implementation of NADA’s strategic plans, organizational priorities, and institutional goals. 
  • Provide visionary leadership to strengthen organizational sustainability and humanitarian impact. 
  • Ensure alignment of all programs and operations with NADA’s mission, values, donor requirements, and humanitarian principles. 
  • Lead organizational transformation, institutional development, and continuous improvement initiatives. 
  • Promote innovation, accountability, and learning within the organization. 
  • Advise the Board of Trustees on strategic opportunities, risks, organizational performance, and policy matters. 
  • Ensure effective coordination between programs, operations, finance, HR, procurement, security, and compliance functions. 

 

 

Governance and Board Relations

  • Serve as the primary liaison between management and the Board of Trustees 
  • Support the Board in governance responsibilities, strategic planning, and policy development. 
  • Prepare and submit organizational reports, strategic updates, financial summaries, and operational analyses to the Board. 
  • Ensure implementation of Board resolutions and recommendations. 
  • Maintain transparency, integrity, and accountability in organizational governance. 

 

Program Leadership and Quality Assurance

  • Provide overall oversight of humanitarian and development programs across all operational areas. 
  • Ensure programs are implemented effectively, efficiently, and in compliance with donor agreements and organizational policies. 
  • Strengthen program quality, monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning systems. 
  • Ensure programs integrate protection principles, gender equality, safeguarding, inclusion, and community participation. 
  • Promote evidence-based programming and data-driven decision-making. 
  • Monitor project performance indicators, impact measurement, and reporting quality.

Financial Oversight and Resource Management

  • Ensure sound financial management and stewardship of organizational resources. 
  • Oversee organizational budgeting, financial planning, cost control, and resource allocation. 
  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, financial policies, audit requirements, and statutory obligations. 
  • Monitor financial sustainability and organizational risk exposure. 
  • Support development of annual budgets, financial forecasts, and funding strategies. 
  • Ensure timely audits and implementation of audit recommendations.

Resource Mobilization and Donor Relations

  • Lead organizational fundraising and resource mobilization efforts. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with donors, UN agencies, INGOs, government institutions, and strategic partners. 
  • Identify funding opportunities and guide proposal development processes. 
  • Represent NADA in donor meetings, coordination forums, and strategic engagements. 
  • Strengthen organizational visibility, credibility, and positioning within the humanitarian and development sectors. 
  • Support diversification of funding sources and long-term sustainability initiatives. 

 

Human Resources and Organizational Culture

  • Foster a positive organizational culture based on integrity, accountability, inclusion, and teamwork. 
  • Ensure effective workforce planning, talent management, and staff development. 
  • Oversee implementation of HR policies, performance management systems, safeguarding measures, and staff welfare initiatives. 
  • Promote staff capacity building, leadership development, and succession planning. 
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and organizational HR procedures. 

Compliance, Risk Management, and Safeguarding

  • Ensure compliance with organizational policies, donor regulations, legal requirements, and humanitarian standards. 
  • Oversee risk management frameworks and internal control systems. 
  • Ensure safeguarding, prevention of sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), anti-fraud, anti-corruption, and whistleblowing mechanisms are effectively implemented. 
  • Ensure timely investigation and management of compliance incidents and operational risks. 
  • Strengthen organizational accountability and ethical standards. 

External Representation and Coordination

  • Represent NADA at national and international meetings, clusters, networks, forums, and partnerships. 
  • Build collaborative relationships with government authorities, civil society organizations, donors, UN agencies, and community stakeholders. 
  • Advocate for humanitarian access, protection concerns, localization, and community needs. 
  • Enhance organizational reputation and external engagement.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • As NADA is a Women Led Organization (WLO), Female Candidates are strongly recommended and required)
  • Education
  • Master’s degree on one of the following : 
    • Business Administration, 
    • Public Administration, 
    • International Development, 
    • Humanitarian Studies, 
    • Management,
    • Social Sciences, 
    • or other relevant field. 
  • A Bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant experience may be considered.

 

  • Experience
  • Minimum 10–15 years of progressive professional experience in NGO, humanitarian, or development sectors. 
  • At least 5 years in senior leadership or executive management positions. 
  • Proven experience managing complex humanitarian and development programs. 
  • Demonstrated experience in Protection and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) programming, including strategic oversight of protection interventions, women and girls’ empowerment initiatives, safeguarding, psychosocial support, case management, prevention and response activities, and coordination with Protection and GBV actors. 
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian protection principles, survivor-centered approaches, PSEA standards, safeguarding mechanisms, and international protection frameworks. 
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations including women, children, IDPs, refugees, and host communities in emergency and conflict settings. 
  • Demonstrated experience in donor relations, strategic planning, organizational management, and resource mobilization. 
  • Strong understanding of humanitarian coordination systems and donor compliance requirements. 
  • Experience in conflict, emergency, and fragile contexts is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in donor relations, strategic planning, organizational management, and resource mobilization.
