 Background:

The EcoSec Officer is primarily responsible for implementing ECOSEC activities, providing technical support, and ensuring effective community engagement and capacity building. 

The ECOSEC Officer will support the SRCS (South Kordofan, west Kordian Branches in the implementation of Economic Security projects, including conducting assessments, planning and supervising distributions, and monitoring of project activities (in East Sudan, including south and West states), with particular emphasis on follow-up, motivating and engaging with SRCS volunteers.

The EcoSec Officer will work under the direct supervision of the FSL National Coordinator at SRCS Headquarters and in close coordination and collaboration with the relevant ICRC project team at the field level.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

Coordination and implementation of technical project technical at field level

  1. Contribute  to Plan, coordinate, and supervise EcoSec/FSL project activities at field level in line with project workplans, guidelines, and budgets.
  2. Ensure that project implementation remains on track, including timely delivery of planned activities and outputs.
  3. Ensure safe, dignified, and quality delivery of services to target communities, in line with SRCS/ICRC standards and procedures.
  4. Contribute to the development and maintenance of partnerships with local authorities, community structures, and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth implementation of field-level activities.
  5. Regularly engage with communities and stakeholders to ensure their informed and meaningful participation in project design, implementation, and monitoring.

Technical Support to Branches and Volunteers

  1. Provide ongoing technical guidance, support to SRCS branches and project volunteers involved in EcoSec/FSL activities.
  2. Contribute to the capacity building of volunteers and branch staff, particularly in needs assessment, beneficiary selection, distributions, and post-distribution monitoring.
  3. Participate in the design, facilitation, or co‑facilitation of training workshops and on‑the‑job coaching sessions for volunteers and branch staff.
  4. Motivate and support volunteers throughout the project cycle, including caring‑for‑volunteers initiatives, to ensure engagement, retention, and adherence to code of conduct.

 

Data Collection, Monitoring, and Reporting

  1. Conduct or support field assessments, baseline/endline surveys, and regular monitoring visits, ensuring high‑quality data collection in line with project tools and standards.
  2. Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of project activities, beneficiaries, and distributions.
  3. Contribute to the analysis of field data and provide feedback to improve project design and implementation.
  4. Prepare and submit timely, accurate narrative implementation reports to the Project Coordinator, including qualitative and quantitative information.
  5. Contribute to the preparation of financial information and supporting documents at field level, in collaboration with finance staff, to ensure coherent narrative and financial reporting.

Coordination and Representation

  1. Liaise with government agencies, NGOs, community-based organizations, and other relevant stakeholders to coordinate EcoSec/FSL interventions, avoid duplication, and maximize overall impact.
  2. Represent SRCS EcoSec project in relevant internal and external meetings, coordination forums, and workshops, as requested by the FSL National Coordinator.

Contribution to Project Development and Other Tasks

  1. Contribute to the identification, design of new EcoSec/FSL initiatives, particularly emergency responses, early recovery interventions, based on field evidence and community feedback.
  2. Engage with local communities to identify needs, priorities and promote participatory approaches in project planning and beneficiary selection.
  3. Perform any other duties related to the EcoSec/FSL activities as assigned by the Project Coordinator.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications

  • University degree, bachelor's, or in food security and Livelihood technical background - Agriculture or Forestry, agronomy, environment, geography, socioeconomics or any other related area of expertise.

 

Experience of

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in FSL programming and CVA programming.
  • Working with NGO’s, other institutions or authorities within the field of food security  and livelihood focusing in emergencies.

At least 3–5 years of experience in project monitoring, community engagement, and volunteer or team leadershipSkills in

  • Project planning and management.
  • Knowledge and interest in migration related issues and vulnerabilities
  • Effective verbal communication skills.
  • Building effective and supportive relationships internally and externally.
  • Solid computer skills include word processing, spreadsheet and presentation design packages (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and report writing ability.
  • Conflict management and problem solving.

  • Leadership and motivation.
  • English and Arabic, other languages an advantage
