 Background:

The Finance Manager will lead and oversee the overall financial management, financial compliance, budgeting, reporting and internal control systems of Aid Point. The role is responsible for ensuring effective stewardship of organizational resources, donor compliance, financial risk management and the integrity of financial operations in line with humanitarian standards, donor regulations, and organizational policies.

 

The Finance Manager will provide strategic financial leadership to support quality humanitarian programming and organizational sustainability while ensuring strong coordination with programmatic and operational departments.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

1. Financial Management & Oversight

  • Lead the day-to-day financial operations of Aid Point.
  • Ensure proper financial planning, management and monitoring of all grants, projects and operational budgets.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure timely financial reconciliation processes.
  • Oversee cash flow management and financial forecasting to ensure organizational liquidity and sustainability.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are properly authorized, documented and recorded in accordance with organizational policies and donor requirements.
  • Supervise bank account management, cash controls and treasury functions.

2. Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Lead the preparation of annual organizational budgets and project-specific budgets.
  • Support proposal development processes by preparing compliant donor budgets and budget narratives.
  • Monitor budget utilization and provide regular variance analysis and financial recommendations to management.
  • Ensure efficient resource allocation and cost optimization across projects and departments.
  • Collaborate with program teams to ensure alignment between financial planning and operational implementation.

3. Financial Reporting

  • Prepare accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports.
  • Ensure donor financial reports are submitted in compliance with contractual and donor requirements.
  • Develop financial dashboards, forecasts and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Present financial updates and recommendations to senior management and leadership teams.
  • Maintain proper financial documentation and audit-ready filing systems.

4. Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with donor regulations, national laws, taxation requirements and organizational policies.
  • Establish and strengthen internal control systems to safeguard organizational assets and minimize financial risks.
  • Lead the preparation and coordination of internal and external audits.
  • Ensure proper implementation of procurement and financial procedures across all operations.
  • Monitor financial compliance across field offices and projects.
  • Support risk management and fraud prevention initiatives.

5. Team Leadership & Capacity Building

  • Supervise and mentor finance staff and field finance teams.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, integrity, collaboration and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  • Build the financial management capacity of non-finance staff through coaching and training.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and support staff development plans.

6. Strategic Support & Coordination

  • Contribute to organizational strategic planning and operational decision-making processes.
  • Support senior management with financial analysis, scenario planning and risk assessments.
  • Coordinate closely with Programs, HR, Operations, Procurement and MEAL teams to ensure integrated organizational management.
  • Represent Aid Point in relevant donor, audit and financial coordination meetings when required.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required.
  • Master’s degree and/or professional certifications such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent are highly desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum 7–10 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, preferably within humanitarian or NGO environments.
  • Demonstrated experience managing donor-funded projects and complex multi-grant portfolios.
  • Strong understanding of donor compliance requirements and humanitarian financial management standards.
  • Proven experience in financial reporting, audits, budgeting, and internal controls.

Languages
