 Background:

Osman Consulting Ltd will support implementation oversight for the Rapid Emergency Response for Displaced Populations in Sudan, a 12-month intervention running from April 2026 to March 2027. The project delivers integrated Health, WASH, and Shelter support in Khartoum, White Nile, and Northern States, with emphasis on timely delivery, donor compliance, partner coordination, risk management, monitoring, and quality assurance.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Purpose of the Role

The Operations and Logistics Officer provides local operational, logistics, procurement-follow-up, and asset-management support to facilitate timely movement of goods, services, and documentation required for project implementation.

Scope of Work and Key Responsibilities

 

Local operations and logistics

  • Coordinate local logistics arrangements including transport requests, movement planning, delivery scheduling, warehousing follow-up, and receipt confirmation where relevant.
  • Track local movement of materials, supplies, and service inputs needed for implementation and keep management informed of timing or access constraints.

Procurement follow-up

  • Support local procurement processes and vendor follow-up in accordance with approved procedures and delegated authorities.
  • Verify that procurement and logistics documents such as requests, quotations, delivery notes, stock records, inspection forms, and service confirmations are complete and properly filed.
  • Liaise with suppliers, transporters, and local service providers to monitor order status and address delivery issues.

Stock and asset control

  • Maintain accurate records for stock, consumables, and project-related assets under the Sudan office's responsibility.
  • Support physical verification, handover documentation, and loss/damage reporting processes.

Operational risk and support

  • Identify logistics constraints, route disruptions, storage concerns, documentation issues, or vendor risks and escalate them promptly.
  • Support the Project Officer and UK Operations Officer with practical information for operational decision-making.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor Degree or diploma in logistics, procurement, supply chain management, business administration, or another related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant logistics or operations experience in Sudan, preferably in humanitarian or project environments.
  • Knowledge of local procurement practices, transport coordination, and inventory control.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Full professional proficiency in Arabic, including strong writing and editing skills.
  • Working proficiency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively in professional settings and coordinate with HQ-based colleagues.
  • Strong organizational and coordination skills; attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to liaise with diverse stakeholders.
