 Background:

IMC has been operational in Sudan since 2004 and remains one of the largest humanitarian agency delivering multi-sectoral and integrated humanitarian responses and resilience building programs aiming for improving the quality of life of the most vulnerable, conflict affected and/or displaced communities through health and related (nutrition, WASH) interventions.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership  and Program Development

  1. Lead the development and periodic review of the mission’s nutrition strategy.
  2. Ensure alignment with Sudan national nutrition policies, cluster guidance, and global best practices.
  3. Identify program gaps and expansion opportunities based on needs assessments and context analysis.
  4. Provide technical input into proposal development, budgets, and log frames.

 

Technical Oversight and Program Quality

  1. Ensure implementation of high-quality nutrition services including: 
  • CMAM (OTP, TSFP, SC), IYCF (Infant and Young Child Feeding)
  • Maternal nutrition
  • Micronutrient supplementation
  • Standardize tools, guidelines, and SOPs across all project locations.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor program quality and provide on-site mentorship.
  • Ensure adherence to national protocols and IMC technical standards.
  1. Strengthen integration of nutrition with: Health services (IMCI, MNCH), WASH interventions, Food security and livelihoods, Protection/GBVVAWG services and promote community-based approaches and linkages between facility and outreach services.
  2. Develop and implement a capacity-building plan for nutrition staff and partners.
  3. Conduct trainings on CMAM, IYCF, emergency nutrition, and reporting tools.
  4. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and technical support to field teams.
  5. Support partner organizations to meet quality standards.
  6. Ensure robust nutrition monitoring systems are in place.
  7. Review and validate nutrition data (e.g., admissions, cure rates, defaulter rates).
  8. Ensure timely and high-quality reporting to donors and internal stakeholders.
  9. Promote data use for decision-making and adaptive programming.
  10. Represent IMC in National Nutrition Cluster, Technical Working Groups, Coordination meetings with UN agencies (e.g., UNICEF, WFP) and NGOs
  11. Strengthen relationships with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders.
  12. Contribute to joint assessments, response planning, and guideline development.
  13. Forecast nutrition commodities (RUTF, RUSF, therapeutic milks, anthropometric equipment).
  14. Work closely with supply chain teams to ensure timely procurement and distribution.
  15. Monitor pipeline status and prevent stock-outs or overstocking.
  16. Ensure programs comply with donor requirements and IMC policies.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Advanced degree in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum 7–10 years of experience in nutrition programming in humanitarian contexts.
  • Proven experience managing CMAM, IYCF, and emergency nutrition programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in proposal development and donor reporting (ECHO, DoS-OFA, SHF, WFP, UNICEF, etc.).
  • Experience in capacity building and team leadership.
  • An excellent command of verbal and written English and local languages.
  • Strong leadership and strategic thinking skills.
  • Excellent coordination and representation abilities.
  • Solid understanding of integrated programming (health, WASH, protection).
  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills.
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, insecure environments.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond appropriately to questions from senior management in the field and HQ, counterparts, government representatives and other stakeholders
