Introduction to the Country Office:

Norwegian church Aid is in Sudan since 1972 and works in the fields of relief, rehabilitation, and development, and works through national partners.
NCA’s Country Office is currently in Port Sudan. It has a Field Office in Al-Gadarif, Al-Gadarif State, where its projects activities encompass GBV, Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, and Health. As well, its projects activities in Kosti, White Nile State are implemented by the national partners

 Background:

The organization's core competencies include Protection Climate-Resilient Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), and Economic Development and Food Security (EDFS). By working with and investing in local partners from the outset, NCA builds its capacities for long-term intervention, including recovery and development.
JOB PURPOSE
This position will ensure improved and expanded community-based services to meet the psychosocial needs of women and adolescent girls. The Protection Caseworker responds to incidents of GBV in a timely, compassionate, and caring manner and provides basic counselling and support to survivors of Gender-Based Violence. The Protection Caseworker works in close collaboration with the Senior Protection Response Officer, other program staff, community leaders, women leaders, local partners, WASH team, health facilities, and other agencies in the location to support and provide services to women and girls who have been affected by conflict through case management services.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

• Facilitate a process for women to have a safe space where they can meet and discuss issues relating to their wellbeing.
• Create and maintain a positive and fruitful relationship with women and girls who use the Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) within the general community in which the WGSS is located.
• Support the Senior Protection Response Officer in supervising Women and Girls Safe Spaces (WGSS) operations in the camp.
• Oversee volunteer case workers’ daily activities, follow up on cases, and monitor capacity-building needs.
• Represent NCA in camp-level.

• Provide professional and confidential case management services to survivors of GBV and other vulnerable women and girls using the IASC guidelines, survivor-centred approach and case management guidelines.
• Document client information through accurate filling in of the intake forms and ensure confidential and safe storage.
• Support GBV survivors in safety planning and risk mitigation.
• Enter GBV incidents into GBVIMS regularly under supervision of the Senior Protection Response Officer.
• Formulate appropriate responses to individual cases according to acceptable standards and in the best interests of the individual.
• Make use of referral mechanisms as appropriate and according to the requests of individuals/families.
• Participate in the interpretation of the analysed data on trends and work with the Senior Prtoection Officer, and other GBV colleagues to disseminate information to all relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate and conduct community education and awareness-raising activities in conjunction with the GBV outreach workers and volunteers with support from the senior protection officer on available GBV response services and accessibilities.
• Ensure implementation of age and appropriate activities in the women and girls’ safe space which women have agreed on and been involved in, including, but not limited to, training, information sessions, skills building, literacy classes, recreation activities, and any other group activities.
• Participate in the preparation of all relevant reports regarding NCA’s psychosocial activities and submit them on a weekly or monthly basis as requested.
• Ensure that all program activities create a neutral, empowerment and supportive environment for women and girls.
• Ensure strict adherence to NCA/ACT code of conduct


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

•  Due to the nature of the role, this position is open to female candidates only.
• A University Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Gender studies, Health, or equivalent is a requirement.
• Previous social work experience or experience working with women and girls affected by conflict especially GBV survivors required.
• Minimum two years' experience in GBV, Protection, Child protection and social work an advantage.
• Experience in GBVIMS and GBV case management is an advantage.
• Good training and facilitation skills are necessary.
• Ability to speak Arabic and English. ability to speak the local languages of the location an advantage
• Willing to stay and work in remote locations.
• Flexible and can adapt to the prevailing environment.
• Self-discipline, self-awareness and self-starter.
• Computer literate especially Microsoft Word, excel database, and power point. Knowledge of other software is an advantage.
