 Duties and responsibilities:

Job Summary: As a member of the CRS Food programming, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through implementation of protection activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partner(s) advancing CRS’s work serving the poor and vulnerable. The Protection assitant at CRS is responsible for implementing and overseeing safeguarding policies, pre venting sexual exploitation and abuse (PSEA), and addressing genderbased violence (GBV) during projec t interventions. Roles and Key Responsibilities: 

• Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned safeguarding activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices and local regulations in the project target areas. 

• Conduct orientation sessions on PSEA, safeguarding, and GBV for project field staff.

 • Monitoring safeguarding standards and documenting incidents. 

• Handling safeguarding and accountability to affected populations (AAP) tasks.

 • Conducting risk assessments and promoting equality throughout the project lifecycle.

 • Supporting the development and implementation of GBV prevention and response progr ams. 

• Facilitating the establishment and functioning of GBV coordination mechanisms with rel evant stakeholders.

 • Represent CRS in protection and GBV working groups. 

• Ensuring interventions adhere to required standards through training and SOPs, while en suring safe and ethical GBV data collection and regular reporting. • Lead effective communication with WFP protection focal point/ activity manager.

 • The role includes handling safeguarding and AAP (Accountability to Affected Populations) tasks, conducting risk assessments, promoting equality, and addressing cross-cutting issues throughout the project lifecycle, with regular reporting on progress and gaps

. • Key responsibilities include providing technical guidance on integrating a survivor centered approach into PSEA complaint mechanisms and improving access to GBV services for survivors of SEA (Sexual Exploitation and Abuse). The officer will support the development and implementation of GBV prevention and response programs based on needs, risks, and capacity assessments and will participate in consolidating and reporting on GBV assessments, including gender equality aspects.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

 • Experience engaging with partner organizations • MEAL skills and experience required. 

• Staff management experience and abilities that are conducive to a learning environment. 

• Experience using MS Windows and MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Web Conferencing Applications, information management systems.
