Background:
The Area Coordinator will serve as the primary focal point for all Human Appeal operations in the assigned area. The role involves overseeing program implementation, staff management, stakeholder coordination, security monitoring, reporting, and ensuring that activities meet humanitarian and donor standards. The position requires strong leadership, coordination, and problem‑solving skills, especially in complex and insecure settings.
Duties and responsibilities:
Lead and oversee daily implementation of all HA projects in the assigned area.
Ensure activities are delivered on time, within scope, and according to donor and organizational standards.
Conduct regular field visits, monitor progress, and ensure data quality and documentation.
Support assessments, beneficiary identification, and activity planning.
Support development of new proposals.
Coordination & Representation
Represent Human Appeal at cluster meetings, coordination forums, and with government authorities (e.g., HAC, line ministries).
Maintain strong relationships with UN agencies, INGOs, LNGOs, and community leaders.
Support the identification of new funding opportunities at the state level.
Ensure alignment of HA activities with wider humanitarian strategies.
Staff Management & Capacity Building
Supervise field teams and provide regular coaching and performance feedback.
Build staff capacity in CP, GBV, safeguarding, PSEA, humanitarian principles, and programme management.
Promote a safe and respectful working environment.
Security & Risk Management
Monitor security developments and share timely updates with teams.
Ensure staff comply with security protocols, movement plans, and SOPs.
Coordinate with UNDSS, local authorities, and communities for safe access.
Logistics, Procurement & Finance
Liaise with logistics teams to support procurement, transport, and storage of project materials.
Track field-level expenditures and ensure compliance with donor rules.
Support transparent, efficient, and accountable use of resources.
Accountability & Community Engagement
Ensure inclusive targeting and application of Do No Harm principles.
Oversee complaint and feedback mechanisms and ensure timely response.
Strengthen community participation and ownership.
Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
Essential
Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Social Sciences, Management, or related field.
Minimum 5–7 years of experience in humanitarian program management or coordination.
