 Background:

Job Summary

The Health Information Management System (HIMS) Officer is responsible for overseeing the collection, storage, analysis, and reporting of health-related data from field program sites and ensuring the accuracy, security, and timely flow of health information for effective decision-making, planning, monitoring, and evaluation.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Roles and Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with the fields project staff to ensure that Health data is collected and shared on a weekly or monthly basis and follow the submission of reports within the specified deadline using submission tracking sheets.
  •   Ensure the received data from the fields is entered in the databases, followed by analyzing health data and generating statistical reports, dashboards, and data visualizations to support planning and decision-making. Enter the reports in the database.
  • Manage and maintain the Health Information Management System (HIMS), including data entry in the Database, backup, and system updates.
  • Ensure timely and accurate submission of routine health reports to relevant stakeholders (e.g., Ministry of Health, UN agencies, partners).
  • Monitor data quality through regular audits and verification exercises.
  • Collaborate with the Health Program Team to improve data use and health outcomes.
  •  Support in establishing and maintaining the project information management system.
  •  Responsible for submitting a data set to project and program leads monthly.
  • Responsible for compiling semiannual and annual statistical reports, as requested.
  •  Contributes to providing MEAL input for reports written during project implementation.
  • Carry out any other activities/responsibilities as per the request of the supervisor.                               

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in health information management, Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in health data management or monitoring & evaluation in a healthcare setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); knowledge of data analysis tools 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities  

  • Strong time management, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to document progress and trend reports.
  • Commitment to confidentiality and ethical handling of health information

Required Languages: Excellent English/Arabic verbal and written communication skills.

 

Travel: Must be willing and able to travel up to 50%.

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: None
