Duties and responsibilities:
- To monitor day to day context, situation in coordination with local authorities and provide update to the Head of Programme Implementation in Centra/West and South Darfur and the Safety and Access Coordinator
- Monitor the regional situation, and provide context analysis based on information collected in the region, and suggest action to HPIs and Safety and Access Coordinator
- Organize and conduct context related assessments and suggest action for humanitarian intervention, or/and align with existing humanitarian programming
- Oversea and ensure Save the Children International’s safety and security procedures e.g. SOPs contingency plans followed and implemented by all field offices under the jurisdiction of the role
- Provide guidance on safety, risk management and access negotiation for humanitarian programming, to ensure appropriate systems are in place for field staff to carry out duties and works.
- Provide support in collecting information about accessibility of communities, locations for humanitarian intervention, and share update with HPIs and Safety and Security Coordinator
- Facilitate safety, access related training for staff in West, Central and South Darfur based on gaps and needs, including mandatory safety and security trainings
- Review and update security-briefing documents and conduct orientation of new staff and visitors. Act as a liaison with all visitors to West, Central and South Darfur
- Ensure that all incidents are reported without delay to the Safety and Access Coordinator, and also report submitted in SCI online reporting system
- To liaise and work in collaboration with other departments e.g., administration/HR, logistics, finance and program to ensure supplies and materials are received, payments provided where necessary for carrying out the safety and access related activities
- To ensure program staff have adequate and proper communication equipment, e.g., mobile phones, SAT phones, WhatsApp along with reliable communication protocols including communication tree.
- Maintain appropriate networking/ links with NNGOs and INGOs, UN Agencies and local authorities to stay informed on safety and access matters.
- Provide support to the Safety and Access Coordinator and other senior staff in revision and updating SOPs and related protocols

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
QUALIFICATIONS - BA in social sciences, international relations, business management, or other relevant field experience.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS - Solid experience in safety and access related work in a conflict/post conflict environment
- Previous experience working with UN Agencies e.g. UNAMID, DSS, or other INGOs in the field of safety/security and access
- Understanding Darfur regarding security, culture, tribal dynamics and economy context
- Demonstrate ability to build staff capacity in safety and access related works
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written in both English and Arabic
- Ability to follow procedures, work independently and cooperatively with team members is required, particularly under high stress and sometimes-insecure conditions.
