Background: The Social Behavior Change (SBC) Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating social and behavior change interventions aimed at improving outcomes in health, hygiene, nutrition, and protection. The SBC Officer will work closely with program teams, community members, and local partners to promote positive social and behavioral change through culturally appropriate and gender-sensitive approaches. This role requires strong community engagement, technical expertise in SBC frameworks, and the ability to build trust and collaboration with diverse groups in the target communities

Duties and responsibilities:
Implementation and Community Engagement - Lead the implementation of SBC activities, including community dialogues, listening groups, theater for development, and advocacy meetings.
- Develop and pre-test engaging SBC materials such as posters, flip charts, radio spots, and social media content.
- Organize and facilitate community mobilization events, focus group discussions, peer education sessions, and communication campaigns.
- Train and mentor community health workers, volunteers, and partner staff on SBC methodologies and interpersonal communication skills.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with community leaders, local authorities, and relevant stakeholders to ensure ownership and sustainability.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEL) - Collaborate with the MEL team to monitor SBC indicators and measure progress against project goals.
- Document success stories, lessons learned, and best practices for internal learning and donor reporting.
- Use monitoring data and community feedback to adapt and improve SBC activities in real-time.
Coordination and Reporting - Coordinate with program teams to ensure SBC components are integrated across all sectors.
- Prepare timely and accurate reports on SBC activities for internal management and donor submissions.
- Represent SAHARI Organization for Development in relevant SBC working groups, coordination meetings, and clusters.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
A Master’s degree is an advantage. - Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience in designing and implementing SBC or community mobilization programs within NGOs or development organizations.
- Demonstrated experience using qualitative research methods and participatory learning and action (PLA) tools.
- Proven facilitation, communication, and training skills, with the ability to mentor and build capacity of others.
- Strong understanding of SBC theories, models, and best practices.
Languages - Arabic: Fluent (oral and written)
- English: Fluent (oral and written)

- Strong organizational and IT competencies.
- Commitment to community participation, gender equality, and accountability principles.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and in a multicultural environment.
