Job Summary: The Protection Community Mobilizer plays a critical role in engaging with communities to raise awareness on protection issues, promote safe practices, and support vulnerable individuals, including survivors of gender-based violence (GBV) and at-risk groups. The Community Mobilizer will work closely with community leaders, local organizations, and residents to disseminate information, build trust, and encourage active community participation in protection programs. The role focuses on empowering communities to prevent protection risks and provide essential support to those affected by violence, exploitation, and discrimination.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key Responsibilities:  Conduct regular community outreach sessions, focusing on awareness-raising around protection issues such as GBV, child protection, human rights, and available support services.  Use culturally appropriate methods to disseminate information, including community dialogues, focus group discussions, public events, and door-to-door outreach.  Identify key protection risks within the community and work to mobilize the community to address these risks collaboratively.  Engage local leaders, including religious leaders, women’s groups, and youth organizations, to build trust and ensure community buy-in for protection activities.  Organize and conduct training sessions for community members on topics like basic protection principles, child safeguarding, and recognizing signs of abuse  Foster relationships with community stakeholders to support the safe referral of individuals in need and increase awareness of the importance of protection practices.  Collect information on protection concerns within the community, including risks faced by women, children, and other vulnerable groups, and report findings to the Protection Officer.  Support the development of community-based protection mechanisms, helping community members to identify risks, solutions, and community-led prevention strategies.  Conduct regular monitoring of community safety concerns and refer urgent protection cases to relevant services in a timely and confidential manner.  Identify cases of individuals in need of protection support, including survivors of GBV, unaccompanied minors, and individuals facing discrimination or exploitation. 2 _____ ____ Employee RI  Conduct confidential and safe referrals for individuals needing specialized services, such as healthcare, counseling, and shelter, following established referral pathways.  Maintain a detailed, confidential record of referrals and services provided, ensuring that privacy and protection principles are adhered to.  Assist in planning and organizing community-based protection activities, such as group sessions, empowerment workshops etc  Facilitate community feedback mechanisms, ensuring that community members can safely and anonymously provide feedback on protection services.  Support the development of community-led initiatives, helping communities create safe spaces for women, children, and others at-risk.  Record details of community activities, including attendance, topics covered, and feedback received from participants, to inform program improvement.  Provide regular reports on community outreach and protection activities, identifying trends, challenges, and community feedback.  Document and report protection incidents or concerns to the Protection Officer, ensuring confidentiality and ethical reporting standards are met.  Actively promote inclusivity and respect for all community members, focusing on the unique needs of women, children, people with disabilities, and marginalized groups.  Encourage community-led initiatives that support women and children’s safety, reduce stigma, and promote the rights of all community members.
