 Background:

Recently CARE received funding from the European Union-EU to implement a “SAFER” Sudan project, an integrated, multi-sectoral approach that combines strengthening sustainable livelihoods, economic empowerment, access to basic services, promoting adaptive capacity, protection and conflict mitigation in the current context. The main goal is to enhance socio-economic integration of children and young people and protection of the human rights of groups at risk in displacement affected communities in Sudan. In doing so, it will promote greater inclusion of women, youth, people with disabilities, and other marginalized groups in individual project activities, especially in the highly affected areas such as Darfur and Khartoum. The project is implemented in partnership with two INGO and several local partners with CARE International as a consortium leader.
CARE therefore seeks to recruit an Economic Empowerment officer, who will provide technical and programmatic oversight in the implementation of the SAFER project. Reporting to the Project manager, the Economic Empowerment Officer will work at the community level, in collaboration with the local authority and other actors, to support implementation of program activities. She/he will provide technical and operational support to the project Assistants ensuring that activities are implemented according to scope and timeline. She/he will help to ensure the interventions are on time, on scope and on budget and identify opportunities to operationalize recommendations as per context of implementation



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Program Implementation (50%)
  • Monitoring, Reporting, and documentation (25%)
  • Contribute to the success of CARE partnership approach (15%)
  • Uphold CARE Values and contribute to CIS shared priorities (10%)

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Holds a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in agriculture economics, Rural Development, Development Studies, Social Studies or any other related field to the scope of the project.
     
  • At least three years’ experience in implementing Economic empowerment (Youth and Women), livelihood and resilience programs in Sudan.

     
  • Experience with value chain development, market systems strengthening, vocational training, internships, small business grants, IGA development and youth empowerment taking into consideration the gender and protection issues in the current context of Sudan.

     
  • Demonstrated ability to work in teams, understanding community approaches, and problem-solving techniques.

     
  • Work under minimum supervision and should be proactive.
