 Background:

The Data Management Officer plays a critical role in ensuring that data is accurately collected, securely stored, and effectively analyzed to support Relief International program goals and indicators. This role supports the MEAL department by developing and maintaining robust data systems, ensuring data quality, and facilitating timely reporting across Health, Nutrition, WASH, and Protection projects.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Data Management:

  • Data Collection and Entry on IPTT replica.
  • Implementing actions of data review meetings; contributing to the decision of indicators for DQA/spot checks.
  • Review of data and updating the master IPTT
  • Facilitating data review meetings and capturing actions.
  • Leading the DQA visit and compiling the report.
  • Collaborate with program teams to understand data needs and design appropriate data systems.
  • Establish and maintain data governance protocols to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Responsible for managing weekly and monthly data entry and updates into the IPTT Replica system, ensuring timely and accurate reflection of project indicators.
  • Maintain organized and up-to-date records of all IPTT submissions, including version control and documentation of changes.
  • Coordinate with MEAL and program teams to ensure indicator tracking aligns with project log frames and reporting schedules.

2. Data Quality Assurance:

  • Implement data validation and quality control procedures.
  • Conduct regular data audits and support program teams in improving data accuracy.
  • Train field staff on data collection tools and quality standards.

3. Data Storage:

  • Manage secure data storage systems (e.g., databases, cloud platforms).
  • Ensure timely and organized data retrieval for reporting and analysis.
  • Coordinate with MEAL teams to optimize data infrastructure.

4. Data Analysis and Visualization:

  • Support data analysis efforts to identify trends and inform decision-making.
  • Develop dashboards, charts, and visual reports using tools like Excel and Power BI.
  • Provide analytical support during project reviews and evaluations.

5. Data Security and Privacy:

  • Enforce data protection policies and access controls.
  • Ensure compliance with data privacy regulations and organizational standards.
  • Develop disaster recovery plans for data systems.

6. Project Management

  • Lead or support data-related projects.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure timely delivery of data initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress and report on milestones and challenges.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the Bio Statistics, 
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data management, preferably in humanitarian or development settings.
  • Experience working with Health, Nutrition, WASH, or Protection data is highly desirable.

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS, Power BI, Kobo, DHIS2).
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.

- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
