 Background:

ROLE PURPOSE: 

  • Support Finance Specialist in managing both donor and external audits
  • Understanding donor compliance requirements and carrying reviews to ensure compliance
  • Designing tools that will assist in communicating donor requirement and monitor their compliance
  • Follow up on audit findings and ensure they are implemented within the set time
  • Manage the archiving system and ensure that it meets both internal and external requirements


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • With support from Finance Specialist, come up with audit timetable based on the donors and external audit requirements. 
  • Coordinate and facilitate the audits and ensuring their timely completion.
  • Prepare draft responses to audit finding and management letter
  • Prepare a tracker for audit findings and follow up to ensure they are implemented on timely basis.
  • Manage the archiving system in ensuring documents are ‘audit ready’ and easily accessible during the audit.
  • Provide guidance to Operations department in order to ensure that non-financial documents that are required for donor audits are maintained and made available during the audit.

Design tools for communicating and monitoring donor requirements across all the functions within SCI

  • Reviewing internal control compliance in all offices and prepare recommendations that incorporate corrective, detective and preventive measures to address risks.
  • Provides clear guidance and advise to make necessary amendments whenever the techniques and procedures are found inefficient and ineffective
  • Updating the Finance Specialist on corrective actions required to address deviations that are detected during the internal control reviews. 
  • Carrying out internal control awareness on regular basis in order to enhance compliance 
  • Liaise with Control and Compliance department in implementing internal audit recommendations.
  •  Endeavour to achieve zero disallowances on donor audits through efficient management of the audit processed. 
  • Collaborate with HR department in enhancing compliance with Effort Reporting requirement and ensuring that auditable documents are maintained and available during the audit.
  • Keep current on developments in the areas of general accounting, auditing, nonprofit issues, government regulations and information technology that can have impact on donor audits.
  • Assist in maintaining expertise in audit-related subject matters such as internal controls, business process improvement and donor regulations and conditions.
  • Participate in global audit assignments within and outside the country.

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

QUALIFICATIONS

Degree in Accounting (essential).

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

Essential

  • Three years of relevant experience in auditing and/or accounting in humanitarian sector. 
  • Fluent in both English and Arabic languages; 
  • Excellent computer skills (MS- Word, MS-Excel, MS- Power Point)
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks to accommodate urgent needs and changes in the audit timetable

 

Desirable

  • Understanding of major donor compliance regulations (EU, OCHA, ECHO, BHA, BMZ, etc)
