The International Rescue Committee responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people whose lives and livelihoods are shattered by conflict and disaster to survive, recover and gain control of their future.
Background: The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises and helps people to survive and rebuild their lives. Founded in 1933 at the request of Albert Einstein, the IRC offers lifesaving care and life-changing assistance to refugees forced to flee from war or disaster. At work today work in over 40 countries and 22 U.S. cities, we restore safety, dignity and hope to millions who are uprooted and struggling to endure. The IRC leads the way from harm to home. Following the April 15 crisis in Sudan, there has been mass displacements of IDPs from hot spot areas in Khartoum and the Darfur regions to several states in Sudan. The IRC has since initiated operations in several states, including Khartoum and River Nile to respond to the escalating humanitarian situations. Currently the IRC is supporting lifesaving service delivery in six health facilities in Khartoum and 4 Health facilities in River Nile and planning to enhance operations here. Purpose of the role:The Community Health Officers will be responsible to oversee all community health activities in Khartoum and River Nile states. The CHO’s will work with the Senior Health and Nutrition Coordinator and Health Managers in designing and reviewing the community health strategy of IRC Sudan. The role will closely support the Community Health Supervisors (CHS) in selection, training, monitoring and support of Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) and Community Health Workers (CHWs). The CHOs will ensure coordination of CH activities with other health and nutrition activities in the area. He/She will be responsible to ensure the CHVs/CHWs have all the necessary essential supplies and materials to enable their work. S/he will also work closely with local partners involved in the implementation of community health and nutrition activities. |
