We take action in response to emergencies and at the same time promote respect for international humanitarian law. We are an independent and neutral organization, and our mandate stems essentially from the Geneva Conventions of 1949. We work closely with National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies and with their International Federation in order to ensure a concerted, rational and rapid humanitarian response to the needs of the victims of armed conflict or any other situation of internal violence. We direct and coordinate the international activities conducted in these situations.

THE PURPOSE

 

The Technical Worker performs simple technical tasks that require minimum qualifications or relevant experience, under supervision

 

REPORTS TO (ROLE)

 

  • Premises Maintenance Supervisor


 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Executes tasks that require qualifications under easy supervision, or at times with-out supervision within Electricity, Plumbing and carpentry related field.
  • Presents manual and technical support to supervisors upon request, Electricity, Plumbing and Carpentry and other related activities at a minimum supervision. . e.g. (Generator, Air conditioners (Installation and service).
  • Maintains and repairs equipment and structures according to spoken or written instructions.
  • Purchases maintenance related materials when necessary.
  • Present both Manual and possibly theoretical technical support to Supervisors upon request, welding, painting, carpentry, and joinery.
  • Monitor, repair and maintain all Plumbing installations within the delegation buildings as well as the residences rented by the ICRC.
  • Repair and maintain of electrical water pump and automatic system.
  • Utilize right hand tools in fitting of valves, couplings and components for tanks, pumps or other plumbing system.
  • Carry out regular check up on all manholes, drainage system items within the domain of the delegation buildings as well as all ICRC residences and do the necessary repairs if applicable.
  • General service and cleaning for all the water line, tanks and filters.
  • Keep updated the Inventory of electric and plumbing, carpentry and other related items and inform his supervisor for replenishment 
  • Work closely with premises teams; receive maintenance reports from Security guards and housekeepers and act upon them 
  • The employee may be asked to perform duties and tasks not covered in this job description as well as to provide support to other departments when necessary.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

DESIRED PROFILE AND SKILLS

 

  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
  • Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment

 

CERTIFICATIONS / EDUCATION REQUIRED

 

  • Primary school education and some vocational training required.
  • Basic knowledge of English.

 

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

 

  • Similar work experience desirable.
