Introduction to the Country Office:

Norwegian church Aid is in Sudan since 1972 and works in the fields of relief, rehabilitation, and development, and works through national partners.
NCA’s Country Office is currently in Port Sudan. It has a Field Office in Al-Gadarif, Al-Gadarif State, where its projects activities encompass GBV, Climate Resilient WASH, Climate Smart Economic Empowerment, and Health. As well, its projects activities in Kosti, White Nile State are implemented by the national partners

 Background:

 The GBV Coordinator will directly oversee the implementation of assigned NCA GBV projects and partner projects, including supporting proposal development, budget management, activity planning, procurement planning, spending plans, and reporting.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee specific projects and partners GBV programming.
  • Ensure development and review of monthly activity and movement planning in close coordination with other sectors.
  • Manage assigned GBV staff and indirectly manage case workers, outreach workers, volunteers, safe space personnel and other program staff as may be requested by the Head of GBV Sector.
  • Ensure survivor centred approach across all GBV programming and supervision of staff including follow up, referrals, action plans, and support services provided to GBV survivors, ensuring that the survivors receive the minimum package as needed.
  • Work closely with the Head of GBV Sector and other team members to initiate planning for longer-term GBV prevention and response activities as per sectoral priorities.
  • Lead field level coordination, representation of GBV/protection and joint response and engagement of beneficiaries as needed for effective service delivery.
  • Review activity budget prepared by team members for approval.
  • Work closely with support departments for effective and timely programming hence, follow-up on necessary logistics, finance, security, HR, Admin processes.
  • Lead GBV safety audits and other GBV assessments including multisectoral joint assessment initiated by the GBV and protection cluster and other relevant clusters and ensure timely submission of reports.
  • Attend capacity building training and mentoring sessions organised within and outside the GBV Sector for self-development and to enhance program quality and staff engagement.
  • In closed coordination with the Head of GBV Sector, organise and provide capacity building trainings program staff and partners as per the sector capacity building plan.
  • In closed coordination with the Head of GBV Sector, monitor program implementation, supervision, and monitoring of activities and provide feedback.
  • Ensure GBV response and prevention activities are strictly follow and adhering to the minimum standards and guidelines and organizational principles and strategy.
  • Contribute to proposal development with input based on feedback from beneficiaries, assessment, and other necessary information relevant for action.
  • Ensure all project documentations and communications are up to date within the organisational project information management systems (PIMS).
  • Submit monthly, status and other reports as requested by per sector plans and as requested by the Head of GBV Sector.
  • Contribute to the development of tools and resources within the sector to enhance standard and quality programming.

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years or more proven experience in a similar function desirable.
  • Very experience directly implementing and managing GBV and protection programmes.
  • Experience in GBVIMS, GBVIMS+ and case management trainings and other GBV and protection trainings.
  • Master’s degree in psychology, Social Sciences, Public Health, Humanitarian Work, Nursing/health related degrees required
  • Flexible and willing to make regular visits to deep-field locations and across states within Sudan.
  • Attended trainings on GBV and is aware of protection issues.
  • Well experienced in working on empowering women and girls.
  • Experienced in working with men an added advantage.
  • Supervisory experience required.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic both written and spoken.
  • Good interpersonal skills to establish effective working relationships with all staff and key stakeholders externally.
  • Able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organization, including relevant staff working for the NCA and partners.
  • Time management
  • Very good computer literate especially micro soft word, excel database and power point. Knowledge of other software an advantage desired.
  • Good report writing skills
  • Ability to coordinate and work with other partners and stakeholders
  • Willingness and ability to take initiative not only in identifying problems but also in suggesting and implementing solutions.
  • Good project management skills required.
