 Background:

Purpose

 

The Protection Coordinator will be responsible for leading the strategic planning, implementation, and monitoring of protection programs in the organization. This includes ensuring compliance with international protection standards, coordinating with relevant stakeholders, and providing technical guidance to field teams. The role requires strong leadership, coordination, and analytical skills to ensure effective protection responses for affected populations.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic direction and technical guidance for the development and implementation of protection programs including CP, GBV and PSEA.
  • Lead protection assessments and analysis to identify needs, gaps, and risks among affected populations.
  • Coordinate protection activities with other sectors (e.g., education, health, shelter) and external partners, including UN agencies and NGOs.
  • Ensure protection principles are mainstreamed across all programs and interventions.
  • Support the development of project proposals, including protection-related activities, indicators, and budgets.
  • Provide training and capacity-building for staff on protection standards and practices.
  • Establish and maintain referral pathways for protection cases, particularly for GBV and child protection.
  • Conduct and support ongoing monitoring of Protection activities, through frequent visits to field sites, to ensure minimum standards for Protection and progress toward targets.
  • Monitor and evaluate the impact and quality of protection interventions.
  • Prepare regular reports and updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Represent the organization in protection coordination meetings and clusters.
  • Participate in all departmental meetings and office regular meetings.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in International Law, Human Rights, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in protection programming in humanitarian or development contexts.
  • Strong knowledge of international protection frameworks and principles.
  • Experience in project management, proposal development, and donor reporting.
  • Excellent coordination, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Fluency in English required; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
  • Willingness to travel to field sites and work in insecure environments.
