 Background:

Purpose

 

The MEAL Coordinator is responsible for strengthening monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) systems across the organization. This position ensures quality assurance of programs, supports evidence-based decision-making, and guarantees timely and accurate donor reporting. The role plays a critical function in promoting accountability, learning, and adaptive management within the organization. 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Design and lead the implementation of robust MEAL systems in line with organizational and donor standards.
  • Ensure development and use of appropriate tools and methodologies for data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Support project teams in setting up indicator tracking tables, performance monitoring plans, and logical frameworks.
  • Facilitate baseline studies, mid-term reviews, evaluations, and post-distribution monitoring.
  • Ensure quality and timely preparation of reports for internal use and donor submission.
  • Lead accountability initiatives, including community feedback and response mechanisms.
  • Promote organizational learning by facilitating reflection, learning reviews, and documentation of best practices.
  • Build capacity of staff and partners on MEAL tools, practices, and standards.
  • Contribute to proposal development by providing input on MEAL frameworks, indicators, and learning components.
  • Ensure maintaining of program files and documentation as per program management minimum standards, including maintaining the confidentiality of beneficiaries’ data.
  • Participate in all departmental meetings and AORD regular meetings.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • At least 5 years of experience in MEAL roles in humanitarian or development organizations.
  • Demonstrated experience with data management software (e.g., Excel, Kobo, Power BI, SPSS, or similar).
  • Strong understanding of donor requirements (e.g., UN agencies, ECHO, USAID).
  • Excellent analytical, reporting, and communication skills.
  • Fluency in Arabic and English (written and spoken).
