 Background:

Purpose of the job: The WASH Officer provides technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the SRCS WASH programming process. The WASH Officer prepares, manages and implements a variety of technical and administrative tasks, related to the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the WASH output results of the SRCS WASH Program in Khartoum, River Nile and Northern states.The WASH Officer report directly to the SRCS WASH Section at Headquarter and maintains bilateral relation with the rest of the program team members to provide technical inputs for the implementation of WASH activities.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Key functions, accountabilities and related duties/tasks

  1. Program development and planning.
  • Be responsible for technical part of WASH needs assessments and identify of priority areas and WASH interventions.
  • Draft updates for WASH in the situation analysis, to inform the development of

WASH-related outcome and output results. Research and report on trends in

WASH, for use in program development, management, monitoring, and

evaluation.

  • Prepare technical drawings and input for activities, projects, program preparation, and documentation, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and relevance of information.
  • Contribute to the development/establishment of WASH-related outcome and
    output results, as well as related strategies, through analysis of SRCS WASH Section
    needs and priorities.
  • Provide technical support throughout all stages of programming processes by executing/administering a variety of technical programs, preparing materials/documentations, complying with SRCS processes and management systems, to support progress towards the WASH-related outcome and/or output results in the SRCS WASH programs.
  • Prepare required documentation/materials to facilitate review and approval
    processes

2. Program management, monitoring and delivery of results

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues and partners to collect/analyze/ share
    information on implementation issues, provide solutions on routine SRCS Projects and programs implementation.
  • Keep records of reports and assessments for easy reference and/or to capture and institutionalize lessons learned.
  • Participate in monitoring and evaluation exercises, program reviews and
    annual sectoral reviews with government and other counterparts and prepare
    reports on results for required action/interventions at the higher level of
    program management.
  • Prepare WASH Technical Progress Reports 

3. Technical and operational support for program implementation

  • Undertake field visits and surveys, collect and share reports with SRCS WASH and other SRCS Departments. Report critical issues, bottlenecks and potential problems to supervisor, for timely action.
  • Provide technical and operational support to Local Authorities, NGO partners, UN system partners on the application and understanding of SRCS policies, strategies, processes and best practices in WASH, to support program implementation.

4. Humanitarian WASH preparedness and response

  • Study and fully understand SRCS’s procedures for responding in an emergency.
  • Take up support roles in an emergency response and early recovery, as and
    when the need arises.

5. Networking and partnership building

  • Build and sustain close working partnerships with government counterparts and
    national stakeholders through active sharing of information and knowledge to
    facilitate program implementation and build capacity of stakeholders to
    achieve WASH output results.
  • Draft communication and information materials for WASH program advocacy
    to promote awareness, establish partnership/alliances and support fund-raising
    for WASH.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, monitoring and documentation of
    SRCS WASH Projects and Programs

       


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • BSc University degree in Water Engineering, Civil Engineering or water related Field Studies.
  • Additional relevant courses that complement/supplement the main degree is a strong asset
  • A minimum of Four years of relevant experience in WASH-related programs for developing countries is required.
  • Experience in humanitarian context is an added value.
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic.
  • Fluency in English spoken and written required.
  • Strong computer skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  
  • AutoCAD skills.
