 Background:

ROLE PURPOSE: 

To provide proactive and comprehensive project management support, coordination, communications and communications for the Global Anticipatory Action team.

SCOPE OF ROLE: 

Reports to:  Head of Program Implementation

Role Dimensions: The position plays a key role in supporting delivery of our current Sudan work on Anticipatory Action and particularly around projects to be delivered in 2025. The post holder is responsible for development and tracking of work plans, supports coordination and information sharing across the broader AA stakeholder group, takes the lead in a Sudan AA communications strategy and supports overall monitoring, evaluation, evidence and learning outcomes for this critical stream of work with Advocacy team at Sudan CO level

The role will require regular engagement with senior representatives from SCI, Member organizations, multi-stakeholder working groups as well as external stakeholders.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Overall support to planning, management and implementation for Anticipatory Action projects to be delivered in 2025, including:

  • AA Planning Tool
  • Emergency Preparedness Procedure Adaptations for AA
  • Working closely with MEAL team for Anticipatory Action
  • El Nino AA + Climate Monitoring report from SMA
  • Community Engagement in AA Guidance
  • AA Fundamentals and Advanced training
  • EPP Audit actions
  • For each project, work with project lead to:
  • Ensure clearly articulated plans and outcomes for 2025, project timeline and stakeholders and dissemination plans
  • Ensure project planning documentation in place and accessible
  • Regularly monitor progress against workplans
  • Facilitate review and adherence to timelines as necessary
  • Ensure finalized tools/documents revised and signed off and stored in appropriate places on OneNet
  • Support procurement processes and ensure contracts and payments in order as relevant
  • Follow up on specific tasks as assigned

Monitoring, Evaluation, Evidence and Learning

  • Support development of a database of country ambitions for AA
  • Maintain tracking of AA contributions from Humanitarian Fund and related MEAL

 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Degree level education preferred / equivalent work experience. A formal project management qualification would be an advantage

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • Experience of managing project activities and following through to ensure progress within agreed timeline, preferably in an international NGO environment.
  • Experience in humanitarian settings and ideally supporting 
  • Keen interest or experience in Anticipatory Action and Emergency Preparedness
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders, using sound judgement to effectively prioritise multiple tasks in a constantly changing environment
  • Strong planning/anticipation skills. Experience of planning and organising meetings and events, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to adopt a pro-active approach to problem solving working closely with senior colleagues as required and offering solutions as appropriate. 
  • Strong written and web-based communications and information management skills; ability to draft and present complex topics for a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proven ability to work effectively at a senior level, gaining trust and confidence with stakeholders.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence others.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, fluent in English
  • Ability to draft well-written, professionally presented correspondence.
