The International Committee of the Red Cross(ICRC), an impartial, neutral, and independent organization striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Technical Worker in Atbara (ATB).

Purpose: 

Technical worker is responsible for all maintenance and repairs tasks including electrical and premises according to ICRC standards in all ICRC premises of Khartoum sub delegation, under the guidance of Finance & administration department in Sudan delegation.

• Develops and maintains a pleasant and conducive working environment with colleagues and line managers.
• Performs all duties with the highest level of confidentiality in the interest of the employees and the ICRC.
• Is responsible for technical interventions (maintenance and repair) of installations, offices, residences, and the warehouse.
• Carry out regular visits to ICRC premises and carry out preventive maintenance.
• Installs and maintains standard equipment in ICRC infrastructures according to the instructions received.
• Regularly checks the electrical installations of offices and residences.
• Maintains and carries out various repairs to existing installations in offices and residences in terms of plumbing, sanitary facilities, cold chain/Air Cons, carpentry, electricity, painting, according to the instructions received and within the set deadlines.
• Carry out or supervise any new construction in the office, residences, or warehouse.
• Installs and maintains standard equipment in ICRC infrastructures according to the instructions received.
• Under the supervision of the safety & security officer Installs and maintains passive security equipment in the Premises (office, residences, warehouse).
• Identifies repair needs, service providers/partners of trust and quality necessary to carry out these repairs, if cannot be carried out by him/herself; Advises logistics regarding the description of items to be purchased for maintenance.
• Sets up a stock management system for maintenance items and records any out of stock on the forms set up.
• Develops descriptive estimates for installations and repairs under the supervision of the hierarchical manager (residences, offices, warehouse, etc.).
• Submits internal purchases related to maintenance or repair by negotiating good prices with suppliers.

• Primary school education and some vocational training required.
• Basic knowledge of English.
• ​Similar work experience desirable
