 Background:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral, and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Protection Field Officer 1 in Al-Junaina

Purpose: 

The Protection Field Officer contributes to the implementation and monitoring of ICRC Protection activities under the supervision of the Protection Delegate in the area of responsibility (AoR). Specifically, the Protection Field Officer supports and implements activities related to Protection of Family Links (PFL) and Management of the Deceased (MoTD), documentation and analysis of Protection of the Civilian Population (PCP) events and trends as well as the development of appropriate response strategies.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the implementation of the PFL activities in the AoR
  • Ensures the proper monitoring and follow-upof RFL connectivity points in the AoR,identifies needs and implements improvements/adaptations as required
  • Collects and properly follows-up on the other RFL serviceslike RCMs/Salamats, TCs, etc. in line with the Delegationworking procedures/workflows
  • Supports in the distribution of PFL-related materialassistance to NS branches
  • Maintains a positiveand productive workingrelationship with the local NS branches, TracingFocal Points, volunteers and provides technical support related to PFL
  • Contributes to the implementation of the PCP activities in the AoR
  • Collects and registersPCP events/trends/information and supports the documentation of the humanitarian consequences of the conflict on the civilianpopulation as per delegation guidelines/procedures
  • Carries out/updates stakeholder mappings
  • Represents the ICRC vis-à-vis communities, individuals, authorities, and weapon bearers, explaining the ICRC’s mandate and activities
  • Contributes to the development and maintains contact with the authorities, the NS, communities, etc., in line with the strategy and priorities of the PCP unit and under the supervision of the line manager
  • Contributes to the implementation of MoTD activities in the AoR
  • Maintains a positive relationship with the local NS branches in relation to their MoTD activities, and supports in the followup of their needs and implementation of activities
  • Supports in the organization of MoTD trainings and delivery of material assistance in the AoR based on needs

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University degree in the filed of social /political/economic science or similar 
  • Computer literacy
  • Good command of English and Arabic
  • 3-5 years’ previous professional experiences, for instance in the field of social/political/economic science or similar
  • Previous experience working in communities is an asset
  • Strongly motivated by humanitarian work
  • Able to work under pressure in a potentially dangerous environment
  • Available and willing to travel frequently to/within the AoR
  • Driving License, succeeded in ICRC driving test
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork& Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
