 Background:

Background:
OVCI (Volunteer Organization for International Cooperation) is an Italian Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) that strives for the promotion of an equal human development and effective holistic inclusion of people with disabilities (pwd)- particularly children. OVCI started its activity in Sudan in 1983 and nowadays runs two polyvalent rehabilitation centers in partnership with Usratuna Sudanese Association for Disabled Children (USADC). Opened in 2008, the first centre is located in Arda street and includes physiotherapy and speech therapy. The second one, inaugurated in 2010, lies in the area of Dar El Salaam (Umbedda), block 5. Services provided are: community-based inclusive development (CBID) home visits, physiotherapy, speech therapy and a pediatric and maternal clinic which is managed as a model of Family Medicine. Plus, through the collaboration with the local partner USADC, OVCI implement activities in the field of inclusive education, working inclusion and raising awareness and advocacy for pwd.

 

Vacancy details
OVCI is looking for a project assistant that will work in the Omdurman office (Arda street, near Ahfad) 5 days a week, from 07.30 to 15.30, supporting the project manager in the implementation of all the projects for the inclusion of children and pwd.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Among his/her main responsibilities he/she will be in charge for:

  • Support the Project Manager in project planning, execution and closure;
  • Support the Project Manager in organizing project activities, events, meetings and campaigns;
  • Support the Project Manager in the organization and scheduling of trainings and workshops;
  • Support all project functions as they relate to quality control, safety, and project team management;
  • Support the Project Manager in assisting meetings, conferences and ceremonies,
  • Support the Project Manager in translations and preparation of documents in English and Arabic;
  • Support in case of need the expatriate staff for translations and coordination of activities;
  • Support the Project Manager in the reporting and monitoring and evaluation;
  • Support the Project Manager in managing the relationships with local and international partners, authorities and governmental institutions;
  • Support the Administration Office in the budget management and collection of all the invoices and declarations of payment;
  • Any other task of duties that might occur during the implementation of the project and could be requested by the Project Manager.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • At least one year of experience in a similar position or in the field of disability.
  • Knowledge of project cycle management.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic
  • Knowledge of word, power point and excel programs.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of disability issues;
  • Residence in Omdurman.
     

Compensation: Monthly Gross Salary: 361 EURO
