The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Movement Cooperation Officer 2 in Nyala.

Purpose:

Movement Cooperation Officer 2 contributes to developing and implementing the delegation's objectives for cooperation with the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement (the Movement) in line with the ICRC’s Movement policies and in consultation with the Sudanese Red Crescent (SRCS). S/he contributes to building positive relationships between the ICRC and other Movement components, particularly the SRCS, in the scope of his/her geographical assignment.

• Contributes to implementing the operational partnerships between the ICRC and the SRCS by working closely with colleagues and the SRCS to develop and implement joint procedures and partnership agreements.
• Analyses the SRCS branch’s capacity (strengths and weaknesses) to undertake effectively Emergency Preparedness and Response (EPR) activities. Clearly communicates his/her findings and capacity building strategy and objectives to colleagues in the ICRC.
• Undertakes field missions, where possible, jointly with SRCS, to prepare and attend assessments that contribute to SRCS capacity-strengthening,
• Monitors and facilitates implementation of ICRC-SRCS partnership/Cooperation ambitions.
• Develops and maintains an open line of communication with SRCS Branches’ staff on partnership issues, capacity-strengthening needs, and support.
• Contributes to maintaining a constant overview of the Movement’s activities, capacity, and affairs in his/her Area of Responsibility (AoR); contributes to organizing and participates in Movement meetings; supports the Head of Office on issues related to coordination within the Movement.
• Facilitates the timely operational and financial reporting by SRCS branches according to established formats and procedures; provides training and regular coaching in financial management and reporting to SRCS staff.
• Explains and disseminates the fundamental movement principles, the operational Movement mechanisms, and the SRCS’ specific auxiliary status in humanitarian services provision to State authorities and relevant stakeholders.
• Represents ICRC and disseminates on ICRC activities to the SRCS and other Movement Partners.
• Keeps updates on the work of other relevant national and international organizations present in his/ her AoR including SRCS, Participating National Societies and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as well as non-MVT organisations partnering with the SRCS.
• Facilitates local SRCS capacity strengthening and EPR projects in consultation with the Head of Office Nyala/Head of Sub Delegation, the Khartoum Cooperation team and oversees the implementation of the Plan of Action (PoA), respective to his/her areas of responsibilities.
• Submits periodic reports on Movement relations and activities in his/her AoR to the Head of Office and copied to the Movement Cooperation Coordinator.

• University degree or equivalent experience.
• Excellent command (spoken and written) of English and preferably Arabic.
• Computer proficiency; reporting skills; experience in providing trainings and speaking in public.
• Minimum 3-5 years’ work experience in a field relevant to Movement Cooperation, like community development, institutional strengthening, health (First Aid), emergency preparedness and response.
• Minimum 2–3 years' l humanitarian work experience with the ICRC or any other Movement Component (NS and/or IFRC) or other humanitarian organisations.
• Readiness to spend 50% to 70% of the time in the field and willing to travel in all parts of the country.
• Experience in and knowledge of South, East and North Darfur area would be an asset.
