Economic Security Generalist 2

 Background:

 

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to fill the position of Economic Security Generalist 2 in Al Junaina.

Purpose:

Economic Security Generalist 2 plans, implements and monitors the ICRC’s Economic Security (EcoSec) programme in line with the country strategy and under the supervision and guidance of their hierarchical superior.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Collects data using data-collection tools and devices.
  • Enters data into and maintains the survey database and the Economic Security Programme Management Tool (EPMT).
  • Collects nutrition information at the household level; uses their basic understanding of malnutrition to identify vulnerabilities and nutritional shortcomings.
  • Analyses strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT analysis) to identify possible response options.
  • Contributes to identifying response options based on an analysis of Economic Security core components (food consumption/production, living conditions, income support and capacity-building).
  • Contributes to developing methods, plans, implementation, logistics and reporting for aid distribution.
  • Contributes to designing and implementing voucher, fair, food/cash-for-work, cash transfer and microeconomic initiative programmes.
  • Follows the political, economic, cultural, and tribal situation mainly West Darfur area of operation and informs of any updates to the Head of Structure.
  • Analyses, in close cooperation with the relevant departments (Protection, Health, WatHab) the strengths and weaknesses of communities, opportunities for communities and threats faced by communities in West Darfur.
  • Initiates and maintains a network of contacts with local authorities, local associations, NGOs and beneficiaries relevant to the Economic Security programme
  • Conducts interviews with beneficiaries, participates to their selection and ensures proper follow-up of taken decisions
  • Organizes monitoring field visits, provides input for regular monitoring follow-up reports and proposes relevant project adjustments 
  • Provides statistics or other specific reports: field trip reports, distribution reports, monitoring reports etc., in timely and accurate manner

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • University Degree or equivalent higher education degree in Economy, Social sciences, Agronomy, Nutrition and Livestock Postgraduate or master’s degree is an asset.
  • Very good knowledge of the socio-political environment of the country, especially Darfur region
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a humanitarian field, socio-economic development, Animal Production, Health, or similar position
  • Previous experience in Al Junaina would be an asset.
  • Very good command of English, spoken and written. Local language/dialect is an asset.
  • Expert level in computer skills
  • Readiness to spend 50-75% of the time in the field
  • Driving license, succeeded in ICRC driving test
  • Proficiency in Relief, Food security, Livelihood & Result-based management cycle
  • Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Teamwork & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
