Duties and responsibilities: The position is located in the United Nations Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS). The position is based in multiple offices throughout Sudan and is located in the Office of Support to the Political Transition. The incumbents will report to the Head of Office in Al-Fasher, in Kadugli and Kassala respectively or their designee, and could be assigned to satellite offices in the respective areas.
Responsibilities: Within the delegated authority, the Field Language Assistant will be responsible for the following duties:

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Work Experience: A minimum of five (3) years of progressively responsible experience in providing interpretation and translation services.
Languages: English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the position advertised, fluency in English and Arabic is required and the ability to interpret/translate in these two languages. Knowledge of other local languages is desirable.
