Employment Initiative Khartoum (EIK): Prospects for the future of Refugees and the Local Community

On behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and the Delegation of the European Union, GIZ implements the Employment Initiative in Khartoum. EIK aims to improve the employment prospects for refugees and the local population and thus contribute to the sustainable development of Sudan. To this end, measures for vocational qualification and employment promotion are being implemented and information is made accessible to the target group. The offers are directed both at the local population and at refugees and internally displaced persons in Khartoum.

GIZ Sudan/ EIK is looking for a qualified person to fill the following position:

Technical Advisor for Private Sector Development, specialization gender and inclusion of disabled

The position is Khartoum-based. As a technical advisor for the German Employment Initiative Khartoum, you will report to the head of private sector development



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement strategies for reaching target beneficiaries, with a focus on women and people with disabilities from Sudanese, as well as refugee communities;
  • Day-to-day implementation, monitoring and documentation of activities in the field of private sector development for people with different backgrounds, skills and abilities;
  • Build up partnerships and networks for women employment, start-ups, entrepreneurship initiatives;
  • Ensuring the delivery of tailor made, high quality and market-oriented trainings in the field of entrepreneurship for start-ups as well as for the informal sector;
  • Counsel other EIK components in the field of gender and disabilities;
  • Prepare and conduct sensitization trainings in the field of gender and inclusion of disabled for project partners and staff;
  • Organize and implement workshops and seminars for different beneficiary groups;
  • Liaise with external service providers and manage contracts with suppliers and contractors;
  • Prepare ToR, studies and reports, follow up on processes;
  • Providing regular updates to the head of private sector development;
  • Support additional EIK activities, if needed.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • At least ten years of work experience in working closely with women and/ or people with disabilities;
  • Proficient experience in development and implementation of training measures for people with disabilities, ideally in the field of entrepreneurship, skills and employability;
  • Experience as a trainer or teacher for adults;
  • University degree, or vocational qualification with work experience;
  • Fluent in English and Arabic (both in speaking and writing), proficiency in Oromo and/ or Tigrinia and/ or Amharic is an advantage;
  • Experience in working with traumatized people, as well as with local authorities in the rural areas;
  • Ability to communicate professionally and emphatically with people of different cultural and educational backgrounds.
  • Knowledge and experience in entrepreneurship promotion;
  • Ability to perform several tasks simultaneously and efficiently in an organized, professional manner;
  • Flexibility, self-initiative and creative thinking in developing procedures and instruments;
  • Ready to take over responsibility for tasks assigned and carry them out and report on results independently;
  • Good team worker, player and communicator, who can coordinate suppliers and contractors;
  • Ability to work professionally in an international context according to international standards;
  • Working knowledge of ITC technologies and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, Excel);
  • Strong communication skills.
