Humanity for Development and Prosperity Oragnziation (HDPO) is a non-governmental, non-profit its headquarter is in Uganda, registered in Sudan in early 2020. its opertaions areas are Darfur, ALjazera, Red Sea, and Senar states covering multi sectors. The organization works in the overty redcuatiom and respond to basic needs through providing humanitarian assistance with a focus on promoting communities and institutional capacity building, peacebuilding, life-saving services, working and supporting good governance.

 Background:

The role of Project Manager:

Protection sits within a dynamic Integrated Protection Unit that includes Protection, Child Protection and GBV, across HDPO\'s Project locations in Sudan and this position offers many opportunities to lead, learn and develop new approaches. The Protection team activities include Protection Monitoring, Case Management, and Community-Based Protection in retuns location and villages affected by internal displacement and conflict. This is a position that manages a wide variety of activities and locations and will manage a team of Protection Assistants, Officers, and Team Leaders to support. This role is based in Elfashir with frequent travel to the project sites in Shagra and other locations.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

The successful candidate will be -

  • Technically knowledgeable about protection, and enthusiastic about building the capacity of others
  • Able to deal with a challenging implementation environment, and interested in trying new solutions
  • Passionate about supporting vulnerable people to access their rights and committed to upholding protection principles
  • Able to communicate strongly in writing, including donor reporting and advocacy materials
  • Experienced in, or have a strong interest in developing, remote management skills


When possible,the Project Manager- Protection shall conduct regular field visits including road travel and will be expected to perform the following duties:

PROJECT MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP:

  • Coordinate, plan and monitor protection project activities
  • Ensure the highest quality of the sectoral interventions, and the coherence between all projects, ongoing and proposed, according to the overall protection strategy and taking into account remote monitoring modalities
  • Take leadership of protection projects in terms of high quality and timely deliverables, narrative reporting and financial overviews, close cooperation with donors, Government counterparts and coordination mechanisms on site, and in synergy with other HDPO interventions in the area.
  • Formalize and develop project related operational tools and training modules, with support from HDPO's Senior management
  • Provide inputs for monthly, quarterly, interim, and annual donor reports as well as ad hoc donor requests.
  • Provide overall budget monitoring, financial management and expenses control for the project activities, including compliance with minimum HDPO and donor requirements
  • Take lead in planning protection monitoring activities and compiling inputs from the protection team on monthly protection monitoring reports, analyze protection trends, and submit compiled report to Integrated Protection Manager


 

PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT, STRATEGY AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS

  • Representation of HDPO and active participation in protection sector meetings and relevant sub sectors/working groups in North Darfur and Keep the HDPO managmernt  updated.
  • keep the donor updated through organing teh field visits and developinng notes
  • Oversee knowledge sharing across teams, and ensure that monitoring and evaluation results are understood and used to improve programs
  • Drive the development and growth of the relevant programs within the HDPO program objectives, including proposal development, and feed into country-wide strategy development
  • Ensure adaptiveness of programming with the ongoing emergency response, in coordination with and supported by the HDPO management.
  • Ensure cooperation and integration with GBV, Community based protection and Child Protection programmes through working with the other project managers and team leaders


 

ACCOUNTABILITY AND REPORTING:

  • Ensure compliance with internal and external reporting requirements including procurement

 

PEOPLE MANAGEMENT:

  • Lead and manage project staff members including mentoring, ensuring coordination, recruitment, and capacity development
  • Provide on the job training as required and adapt trainings/coaching to specific staff needs


AS MANAGER THE POST-HOLDER IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING:

  • Accountable for achieving HDPO’s strategic goals and objectives within the area of responsibility
  • Accountable for making significant decisions on what the protection team does: its purpose, functions and role, and for making commitments and decisions that require the expenditure of significant unit resources.
  • Accountable for people management of direct reports, generally at least 3 employees. This includes hiring & objective setting, probation, performance appraisal, development of staff, managing performance, including poor performance, etc
  • Accountable for making sound decisions based on HDPO policies, standards, and the advice of technical experts in HDPO>

PSEA and Safeguarding.

HDPO stricly follows the the core values and code of conduct hnece the ciontracted staff, volunteers, beneficiaries ...et to fully follow the safegaurding, PSEA and ther codes. 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in NGO projects, particularly in managing/leading protection projects.
  • At least 2 years\' experience with people management
  • Master\'s degree (e.g. humanitarian programming, international development, human rights, or international relations) desirable
  • Undergraduate degree in related subject (law, nursing, counselling/mental health, social sciences etc) required
  • Professional proficiency in English
  • Excellent communication skills for external audiences (including governments and donors)
  • Experience working in conflict contexts or humanitarian response
  • Experience working with Monitoring and Evaluation
