IAS Sudan is looking for a passionate individual for our programme in Sudan who has the experience and competencies to work as the Finance SupportManager, supporting quality reporting, documentation, implementation, bringing immediate and lasting changein the lives of the women, men and children we serve.

 

Job Purpose

The Financial Support Manager is expected to provide strategic support to the Finance Manager. This includes direct involvement in day-to-day operations to make the Finance Office more effective, efficient, and transparent. The areas of operation include financial policy implementation, donor budget tracking (debits and credits), internal audits, financial report preparation, and external audit support.  



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Reporting

  • Supporting accountants and Finance Officers on their day to day activities.
  • Reviewing payment vouchers and other journals vouchers to ensure proper charging, donor coding and completeness per required IAS and donor financial standards.
  • Ensure that local partners adhere to both IAS and donor accounting standards.
  • Make sure that all Balance Sheet and Income Statement accounts relating to projects are reconciled on a monthly basis.
  • Ensure that inter-company reconciliation is done on a monthly basis
  • Be responsible for timesheets reconciliation and ensuring office risk is eliminated as a result of non-compliance to IAS policy.
  • Be responsible for allocation of shared costs to various projects
  • Assist Finance Manager in analyzing of grant expenses against the approved budgets.

 

Monitoring

  • Periodic visits to  project field offices  to ensure compliance ,financial controls and procedures are in place.
  • Identify deficiencies in financial understanding among the IAS staff and work with Finance manager to conduct informal capacity building activities and/or formal training workshops as necessary. 

 

Audits

  • Assist in implementation of audit recommendations
  • Participate in preparation of both annual and project audits.

 

Others 

  • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Finance Manager.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a finance related field.
  • 3 - 4 years of relevant working experience. 1 years’ experience at senior management level is preferable.
  • Experience from working in an international setting with an INGO and/or UN or similar agency a strong plus.
  • Experience from working in  Sudan a strong plus.
  • Experience in project cycle management, procurement, strategic planning and other organizational development skills a strong plus.
  • Experience in working with accounting software highly preferable.
  • Advanced knowledge in MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint.
  • Preferably experience with different international donors’ requirement, particularly SIDA, DANIDA, EU and UN
