The CP Officer – Gedaref field office will be working in close coordination with the Senior CP Manager. S/he will assist in the continuation of child protection interventions in Gedaref State, with a focus on refugees from Ethiopia, including unaccompanied children and children who have experienced or are vulnerable to abuse, exploitation, neglect, and violence.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Carry out implementation of the child protection activities as per the work plan while always observing the best practice and IRC policy.
  • Put in place functional case management, referral, and information management systems for appropriate identification, responses, and follow-up for children harmed or at risk of being harmed.
  • Plan and conduct psychosocial support activities according to technical quality standards and appropriate epidemic and pandemic mitigation measures.
  • Initiate and maintain regular communication with the senior CP Manager for appropriate technical review and insights in the day-to-day delivery of project activities. 
  • Proactively identify new or emerging needs, gaps, and opportunities including documentation of practices (good and bad) regarding child protection intervention to enhance the safety of children and families in their homes and communities.
  • Represent the project in the child protection working group as may be required by the supervisor.
  • Maintain open and professional relations with team members, promoting a strong team spirit within the staff to successfully perform in their positions.

Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting

  • Compile and file reports for every activity implemented
  • Contribute to the donor report compilation
  • Participate in regular review of project documents and provide insights for improvement.
  • Monitor, mentor, and report on the performance of the community incentive workers within the project.
  • Support the Manager in the development and implementation of project procurement plans, cash projections, and spending plans.
  • Ensure timely completion and submission of monthly timesheets, leave plans, and annual performance reviews.
  • Identify and enroll for capacity enhancement training, and mentorship sessions to improve the quality of delivery.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • BA or equivalent in social work, human rights, or related degree desired with at least 2 years of experience in implementing child protection programs, preferably social work, or case management, in humanitarian settings. Experience in start-up programming preferred.
  • Experience working with refugees/IDPs, and vulnerable groups of people preferred
  • Understanding and sensitivity to the needs of people from a variety of backgrounds and cultures
  • Good computer skills such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and outlook
  • Capable of applying skills and knowledge in a range of capacities, including direct implementation, coordination function, training, and the transfer of technical knowledge
  • Personal qualities: Team player, flexible, network-builder, able to handle pressure well
  • Fluency in English required, working knowledge of relevant local languages desirable
