 Background:

In 2022 DRC will launch a humanitarian mine action programme, initially composed of Non-Technical Survey (NTS) and EORE in South Kordofan, Sudan. DRC is therefore looking for a dedicated EORE Team Lead to support the launch and implementation of a new project beginning in August.  

The EORE Team Lead will work in close coordination with the EORE Officer, EORE Operators, NTS team and the NTS/EORE Project Manager to plan and deliver EORE in different community settings and using different mediums, targeting women, girls, boys and men exposed to risks from explosive ordnance in the target areas. They will support training facilitation in EORE to other team members, partners and to community focal points, lead on EORE needs assessments and other data collection activities in the area, and lead in developing the team’s work plan and engaging local stakeholders to effectively plan, deliver and monitor EORE sessions in the community.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Project Implementation

  • In coordination with the EORE Officer and NTS Team Leader, lead on the planning and delivery of EORE sessions and EORE training of trainers sessions, ensuring compliance with National Mine Action Standards and DRC’s Standard Operating Procedures
  • Support induction and training of new EORE team members and partners
  • Lead on community-level survey activities supporting baseline / endline data collection, and Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) surveys
  • Ensure close coordination with the NTS team to ensure EORE is delivered in areas where survey activities are taking place
  • Act as the main focal point with community representatives for the planning and monitoring of EORE activities
  • Ensure the quality of EORE sessions delivered in the community using DRC’s quality assurance tools
  • Participate in the elaboration of EORE awareness raising materials and EORE public information campaigns
  • Coordinate with area-level support services staff to facilitate the procurement of goods and services supporting EORE project delivery, in accordance with DRC guidelines and policies.

Reporting 

  • Keep accurate records of daily activities, the team’s outputs and beneficiaries reached, and regularly update project monitoring databases according to DRC procedures
  • Report issues faced during project implementation to the EORE Officer and Project Manager
  • Document success stories and lessons learned for development of donor reports and case studies 
  • Any other duties as directed by the Line Manager

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Vocational school, higher education is an asset
  • Previous training and experience in EORE or other mine action specialism desirable
  • Knowledge of International/National Mine Action Standards is an asset
  • Experience in conducting community engagement and delivering awareness raising activities
  • Experience in conducting surveys, data collection and analysis
  • Computer literate
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal) in Arabic and English 
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent ability to work in a team
  • Good knowledge of local communities and community dynamics 
  • Experience and willingness to work in the field in remote and volatile areas 
  • Driving license
  • 3 years working experience
