Humanity for Development and Prosperity Oragnziation (HDPO) is a non-governmental, non-profit its headquarter is in Uganda, registered in Sudan in early 2020. its opertaions areas are Darfur, ALjazera, Red Sea, and Senar states covering multi sectors. The organization works in the overty redcuatiom and respond to basic needs through providing humanitarian assistance with a focus on promoting communities and institutional capacity building, peacebuilding, life-saving services, working and supporting good governance.

 Background:

The Protection Program Officer will directly support the Senior Protection Coordinator in the development, administration and implementation of the HDPO’s protection program in North Darfur, both on a daily basis and with a long-term strategic perspective. The responsibilities and activities of the Protection Program Officer will be extensive and fluid, depending on the shifting needs of the program, and are likely to include but not be limited to those described below.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Undertake Protection monitoring activities; Conduct interviews and missions to the field. Monitor, analyze and provide reports on the protection conditions for returnees/refugees/IDPs and other persons of concerns.

2. Identify protection gaps and interventions; Review reports from the field. Guide/ advice and implement the appropriate HDPO Protection project to respond to protection concerns of the DPs and host communities. 3. Organize/actively participate in the State Protection Working Group and other relevant meetings; Draft minutes, convene meetings and support the 2 inter-agency ‘collaborative response’ in coordination with state level c ooridnation team , other UN agencies and NGOs.

4. Organize/facilitate relevant protection training activities: Organise workshops for government officials, local/Community and leaders as well as for HDPO staff and partners in order to build their capacity and encourage affective protection networks.

5. Advocate with the government and other actors to take appropriate measure to remedy violations and address the protection concerns facing the IDPs and host communities.

6. Liaise with relevant line ministries and commissions in order to foster partnerships and encourage national interest and ownership in protection of refugees, returnees and other persons of concern.

7. Provide support, guidance and assistance to protection and field staff in all the field offices on protection priorities, issues and concerns.

8. Perform other duties as may be required.


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor Degree or equivalent higher education degree in a humanitarian area, socio-economic development, humanitarian law, human rights or equivalent field
  • 3-5 years’ previous professional experiences in the field of humanitarian, social, political or economic sciences or similar position, experience with the HDPO or another humanitarian agency an asset
  • Good knowledge of the assigned environment and its cultural aspects.
  • Fluent command of English, One or more local languages an asset.
  • good in computer, reporting both verbal and written
  • Readiness to spend 70% to 90% of the time in the field( prject sites) 
  • Very good knowledge of the HDPO mandate and ability to speak about it with a wide range of interlocutors.
  • Ability to work remotely in an independent way.
