 Background:

Job Title: Program Associate, Sudan

Reports to: Program Manager, Sudan 

Scope: CIPE- Sudan is seeking a full-time Program Associate to be based in Khartoum, Sudan that will support CIPE activities under the private sector development program. CIPE is seeking a candidate who is enthusiastic about the role the private sector plays in democratic governance and business integrity, and who is familiar with basic components of monitoring and evaluation or willing to learn. This is a term position that ends in December 2022 and could be renewed



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Responsibilities and Duties 

  • Assist in managing CIPE projects in Sudan, including coordination and communication with project partners, contractors, business associations, and other stakeholders.
  • Organize and co-facilitate training sessions, virtual workshops, and roundtables on topics including GBV, business advocacy, and organizational development (among other topics), with guidance from CIPE technical experts.
  • Compile narrative reports and monitoring and evaluation data in accordance with project and donor requirements.
  • Collaborate with the CIPE Evaluation Team to design and evaluate training content, curricula, and assessments.
  • Represent CIPE at public events and in meetings with public sector representatives and private sector stakeholders, as needed.
  • Maintain consistent communication and provide weekly programmatic reports to HQ-based staff.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with peer donor organizations and proactively support business development efforts.
  • As directed by the supervisor, contribute to the development of proposals and concept notes for new funding opportunities in Sudan.
  • Monitor current events, including political and economic changes, and US relations in Sudan and assess the impact on ongoing and planned CIPE projects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor. 
  • Adhere to appropriate CIPE, NED and USAID and other donors’ policies and procedures.
     

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Qualification and Skills 

  • 3+ years professional experience with proven track record in project management, people management, and economic/democratic development required.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent experience in one of the following fields preferred: public policy, business, organizational development, social science, law, or related fields.
  • Experience working with private sector organizations, including business associations or chambers of commerce, strongly preferred.
  • Experience working on gender-based violence and women economic empowerment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience in or knowledge of monitoring and evaluation best practices or willingness to learn.
  • Demonstrated initiative and ability to manage multiple time-sensitive, detail-oriented tasks simultaneously with limited supervision.
  • Demonstrated strong organizational, interpersonal, critical thinking and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking and analytical skills.
  • Strong grasp of non-profit management methods and training methods.
  • Expertise in labor safety, anti-corruption, or integrated compliance would be an asset.
  • Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
  • Strong IT skills in MS Office, specifically MS Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic.
