 Background:

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person for the following position in Khartoum: Field Print Production Officer

 

Purpose:

The Field Print Production Officer is the focal point within a delegation for the print production of publications and promotional items. S/he is also responsible for implementing the Field Production Book (FPB) process at the delegation level, under supervision by both the Head of Delegation and the Regional Print Production Officer at the relevant regional communication centre



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Ÿ  Manages the print and electronic production of ICRC institutional publications in the relevant language from design to off-press, selecting and supervising the work of freelance graphic designers and printers to ensure quality service and respect for deadlines.

Ÿ  Ensures that all products comply with the ICRC’s corporate visual identity.

Ÿ  Initiates publications and promotional items of local reach, under the supervision of the Communications Coordinator and in consultation with the Regional Print Production Officer (as may be required).

Ÿ  Compiles the yearly delegation production book in consultations with all departments / programmes, ensuring implementation and follow-up.

Ÿ  Works with the logistics team in the conduct of regular assessments of print and multimedia suppliers

Ÿ  Manages the stock of communication tools/publications.

Ÿ  Produces (through outsourcing) the annual ICRC calendars using the InDesign templates provided by the Field Print Production Coordinator.

Ÿ  Advises the delegation on distribution and promotion strategies to enhance the reach of communication materials to various audiences

Ÿ  Ensures the integrity of all photos/images taken from field and other operations and archive them within the Data Asset Management (DAM) system consistent with ICRC HQ guidelines.

Ÿ  Supervises and advice on the conceptualisation or production of ICRC promotional/ brand identity items to ensure conformity with global ICRC standards.

Ÿ  Ensures proper storage and maintenance of all AV and Public Address equipment in the department including cameras, microphones, stands and other devices/equipment

 


 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Ÿ  University degree/ Diploma or equivalent qualification in a communication-related field such as marketing, publication editing and/or production.

Ÿ  Over 3 years’ experience in a related field.

Ÿ  Knowledge of Picasa software mandatory, any other design software an asset.

Ÿ  Very sound knowledge of print production processes (from design to print) and visual identity management; mastery of related software an asset.

Ÿ  Experience in working with external suppliers (designers, printers, editors and translators).

Ÿ  Experience managing contracts and service level agreements an asset.

Ÿ  Good command in written and spoken Arabic and English languages.

Ÿ  Very good PC user skills (Excel, Word, etc.).

Ÿ  Readiness to travel to the field and willing to travel in all parts of the country

Ÿ  Skilled in the following competencies: Leadership, Accountability, People management, Team work & Collaboration, Representing the ICRC, Beneficiary & Client focused.
