 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Leading internal and external communications and advocacy work for our gender transformative programming and in particular during major humanitarian emergencies
  • Providing an all-round communications service for the Strategic Partnership and Influencing unit in close collaboration with the program department to ensure effective internal and external communications, including engaging campaign materials and clear and compelling messaging.
  • Work closely with the Regional Office in Nairobi to ensure that branding, communications, external messaging and image are met and are up to the expectations.
  • Responsible for implementing a comprehensive advocacy and communications strategy, ensuring smooth flow of information, good relations with high profile stakeholders and strategic partners, and high-quality reporting to showcase Plan International Sudan program activities and its achievements.
  • Ensure that Plan International Sudan receives national recognition for achieving proven and its innovative national impact from well-managed gender transformative programs and its humanitarian response program.
  • Be an active member of the Advocacy platforms and appropriate forums.
  • Support the identification and appointment of the national goodwill ambassadors
  • Coordinate, plan and implement field visits for the national goodwill ambassadors, ensure they are well oriented and inducted before any trip and organize the media events and press conferences.
  • Collaborating with other functions - sponsorship, finance, programs, field operations to ensure compliance with standards.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • A professional communication and advocacy person with a post graduate degree in communication, media, gender, journalism and or related degree;
  • At least 5-7 years of progressive work experience in communication and advocacy Clear exposure to Emergency contexts;
  • Deeper understanding of the various  communication and advocacy norms and practices with emphasis on child rights, girls equality and or gender issues;
  • Technical Ability in writing with an excellent command of English – both written and spoken
  • Strong photography skills, additional technical skills are desirable, including proficiency in Adobe Photoshop or photo-editing software, social media experience
  • Creative sets a strong learning culture, culturally sensitive, results-driven.

Salary and Benefits:
Plan offers a very competitive salary and benefits package to its employees. The employee shall receive a gross salary of 1,652 USD. Plan also offers different allowances including health insurance, one month’s gross salary during Eid-ul Fitr, and an educational allowance (equivalent to one month’s gross salary) at the start of every school year to support the education of our staffs’ children.
