 Background:

RedR UK is an international humanitarian NGO that provides training and technical support to aid workers and humanitarian organisations around the world. We also work to build the resilience of disaster-prone communities, ensuring that they have the knowledge and skills to prepare for, respond to and recover from crises.

Since 2005, RedR UK Sudan has been providing high-quality training and capacity-building for humanitarian actors from our national HQ in Khartoum, our Darfur office in El Fasher, and across the country.

Our priorities in Sudan are as follows:

  • To support the life-saving response to basic needs by contributing expertise across multiple sectors and facilitating the improvement of operational capacity in these areas.
  • To develop the capacity of national and local government and non-government actors, expanding our assistance to key line ministries and key local actors in all aspects of humanitarian project management.

RedR is seeking qualified candidate to fill  position based in RedR UK Sudan Country office in Khartoum with some field travel mainly to Darfur States or other areas as needed by the programme.

Purpose:

To deliver RedR Sudan’s services through the Sudan Programme. As a Training Coordinator in the Sudan Programmes team you will be responsible for coordinating training and capacity-building events in Sudan, under all Programmes (Open, Tailor-Made, Projects), and contribute to the ongoing quality of our work through managing the performance of Associate Trainers, reviewing training materials, and supporting with monitoring, evaluation and reporting.

 



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Event preparation and delivery to a consistently high quality

  • Coordinate a number of learning events across the Tailor-Made, Project and Open programmes. For each event, assume full responsibility for the required activities, including:
    • Liaison with the client organisation on implementation
    • Recruitment, contracting and management of suitably qualified Associate Trainers
    • Ensuring logistical and administrative requirements are arranged including trainer travel, accommodation, materials preparation, production and shipping, catering, with support from the Support Services Unit
    • Close coordination with Field Office for training preparation and monitoring outside of Khartoum state
    • Reviewing Trainer Reports submitted by ATs, and finalising a Training Report for each event
    • Contribute to narrative and financial reporting as required
    • Maintain proper filing system to keep all documentation related to the events, including contractual agreements, trainer reports, participant lists, follow-up results, pictures and other required documentation
    • Coordinate 3-month post-training follow-up with participants and client organisation
  • Support other Training Coordinators on event preparation, delivery and monitoring as required
  • Provide detailed and timely feedback to Associate Trainers on materials development and delivery and support them to meet RedR Quality Standards.
  • Coordinate additional project activities and events as required, for example policy work, or communications activities.
  • Deliver training courses as required by the Office, according to expertise and specialisation.

 

Programme Development

  • Receive and track Tailor-Made enquiries, and refer them to the Senior Programme Coordinator
  • Identify and explore possibilities to for expanding the range of services offered by the Sudan Programme, including contributing to, or leading on, proposals
  • Represent RedR and the Sudan Programme at external events and forums, as appropriate
  • Keep up to date with developments in training methodology, learning and development issues in the humanitarian sector, and the humanitarian situation in Sudan
  • Provide feedback for the course schedules, demands for courses and any new ideas towards trainings from clients, monitoring visits, reports and meetings with other agencies. 
  • Report any additional service requirements made by NGOs/INGOs/UN/Government.
  • Provide feedback to trainers in order to enhance their professional abilities.

Ensure that the quality of our services is maintained and improved

  • Input to discussions on course updates and areas for new development as appropriate
  • As required, manage Associate Trainers to update RedR learning materials and content, in coordination with the Quality and Effectiveness Team
  • Support the assessment of prospective new Associate Trainers, as required

General

  • Ensure proper handling and care of all equipment (computers, projectors, cameras, etc).
  • Work in co-ordination with the rest of the team working at the Country Office in Khartoum and Field Office in El Fasher, and where necessary the head office in London. This may include compiling and sending trainer reports to HQ, or archiving of partnership agreements, responsibility for such tasks will be allocated between Training Coordinators.
  • Maintain close collaboration with the Country Director, HR Coordinator, Support Services Manager and Coordinator, Finance Officer, Field Area Coordinator and Officer, and Quality and Effectiveness Team at HQ as required.
  • Undertake other tasks as reasonably requested by the Senior Programme Coordinator.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

The post holder must be an experienced trainer with a demonstrated track record of delivering training and administering training related activities.

Essential

  • Proven experience in the field of training in subjects related to humanitarian work, general or technical.
  • BSc in Social Science, or any relevant Humanitarian Studies.
  • Strong commitment to Humanitarian work, with more than 5 years’ direct and relevant experience of working in humanitarian field operations
  • Demonstrated expertise in adult learning theory and participatory learning methodologies
  • Experience and knowledge of the training cycle including design, delivery and evaluation of learning events
  • Strong command of English language skills (Read, Speak and Write)
  • Excellent workload management skills and ability to use initiative to solve problems in line with RedR policies and procedures
  • Effective cross-cultural communication skills and strong inter-personal skills, with the ability to deal with a variety of internal and external working contacts
  • Flexibility, team player and positive work ethic
  • Good data analysis and data representation skills
  • Good computer literacy, with knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, in particular Excel,     Word and PowerPoint
  • Willingness to undertake domestic travel to often insecure and difficult environments for periods of up to 2 weeks

Desirable

  • Experience with training institute or related professional services
  • Knowledge of working in similar cultural contexts
