Senior Training Coordinator

 Duty Station: Khartoum, with travel to other states as required

 Background:

RedR UK is an international humanitarian NGO that provides training and technical support to aid workers and humanitarian organisations around the world. We also work to build the resilience of disaster-prone communities, ensuring that they have the knowledge and skills to prepare for, respond to and recover from crises.

Since 2005, RedR UK Sudan has been providing high-quality training and capacity-building for humanitarian actors from our national HQ in Khartoum, our Darfur office in El Fasher, and across the country.

Our priorities in Sudan are as follows:

  • To support the life-saving response to basic needs by contributing expertise across multiple sectors and facilitating the improvement of operational capacity in these areas.
  • To develop the capacity of national and local government and non-government actors, expanding our assistance to key line ministries and key local actors in all aspects of humanitarian project management.

RedR is seeking qualified candidate to fill  position based in RedR UK Sudan Country office in Khartoum with some field travel mainly to Darfur States or other areas as needed by the programme.

Purpose:

To lead the operational aspects of the capacity building initiatives delivery, and provide technical, learning and development input into the design and delivery of RedR’s Capacity Building initiatives.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

Provide technical input to the definition and delivery of the Programme strategy

  • Lead the Program team and take responsibility for setting strategic direction, and manage the implementation of the capacity building initiatives in Khartoum and other states
  • Track and monitor progress against operational objectives, key performance indicators, and programme targets
  • Form part of the Country Management Team, working closely with the Country Director and Support Services Manager to provide direction and leadership
  • Work closely with the Support Services Manager to ensure cooperation and coordination between Programme and Support units, smooth operations and identify areas for innovation and improvement

Manage a team of Training Coordinators and Training Administrator, and work with them to effectively deliver RedR's capacity building initiatives

  • Manage a team of Training Coordinators, Training Administrator and administrate HAC trainees, including recruitment, induction and capacity building as required
  • Manage the performance, work planning and continued professional development of the Training Coordinators and Training Administrator
  • Monitor programme activities and support Training Coordinators to manage and resolve day-to-day implementation issues
  • Provide learning and development input to support team members working on more complex Tailored Programme enquiries or events 
  • Provide technical review and input to ATs on training content and training delivery
  • Work closely with the Partnership and Compliance Coordinator to ensure RedR standard procedures and policies are followed by Training Coordinators and administrative trainees to plan for, implement and close capacity building initiatives
  • Work closely with the Support Services Manager to monitor financial management across projects and programmes  

Ensure that our services meet the needs of the sector and work to expand our reach

  • Support the Partnership and Compliance Coordinator to identify and explore possibilities to for expanding the range of services offered by the Programme, including contributing to, or leading on, proposals 
  • Represent RedR at external events and forums, as appropriate
  • Keep up to date with developments in training methodology and learning and development issues in the humanitarian sector

Ensure that the quality of programming and implementation is maintained and improved

  • Ensure collection of monitoring and evaluation data
  • Ensure quality assurance systems, processes and tools are correctly followed by the Programmes Team and take a lead role in developing tools to support the work of the team, identifying areas for improvement and innovation, in collaboration with the Country Director, Partnership and Compliance Coordinator and Support Services Manage
  • Provide internal quality assurance for RedR learning materials

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

  • Master’s degree in Social Science, Humanitarian or Development Studies, or Management and Administration.
  • 7 years' experience in project management in humanitarian field operations, at least 3 years of which managing team members
  • Proven record of developing and delivering training and capacity building events
  • Expertise in adult learning theory and participatory learning methodologies
  • Experience and knowledge of the training cycle including designing and conducting LNAs, design, delivery and evaluation of learning events
  • Excellent people management skills, including effective cross-cultural communication and strong inter-personal skills
  • Proven experience in representation at a senior level and developing networks
  • Excellent workload management skills and ability to use initiative to solve problems
  • Willingness to undertake travel internationally to often insecure and difficult environments for periods of up to 2 weeks
  • Confidence and ability to represent RedR externally including public speaking as necessary
  • An enterprising, creative, goal-orientated and can-do-attitude
  • Fluency in spoken and written English
