The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), an impartial, neutral and independent organisation striving to protect and assist the victims of war and internal violence, has been working in Sudan since 1978. The ICRC is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person for the following position: Generalist Field Officer for its planned office in Kadugli

5. Until the opening of the ICRC office in Kadugli, the position will be temporarily based in Khartoum

Purpose: ​

The Generalist Field Officer 2 contributes to the identification, implementation and monitoring of several ICRC projects in different fields of activities within the structure, in coordination with the structure's management. Depending on the context, it can cover Field, Protection, Assistance, Cooperation, Communication or others activities, contributing to the representation of the ICRC at local level.

Reporting to:

Head of Sub Delegation in Kadugli.

• Monitors the humanitarian environment and needs, and the analysis of the security, socio-economic, cultural and political environment relevant to the ICRC, updates the management regularly (both oral and in writing
• Contributes to implementation, or at times directly implements, and follow-up of various field activities, in accordance with objectives
• In charge of the internal and external communication
• Collects, compiles, translates/interprets information in relation with the projects and contributes to written reporting
• Facilitates and contributes to the work of delegates or other specialists, either internally or externally (internal or external meetings with authorities at local level, briefings on ICRC field activities, etc.)
• Contributes to the development of the structure's network of contacts with local stakeholders
• Participates to field missions, which can at times be carried out independently
• Ensures administrative and financial follow up after field missions

• Bachelor Degree or equivalent higher education degree in a humanitarian area, socio-economic development, humanitarian law, human rights or equivalent field Post Graduate or Master's Degree is an asset.
• Very good knowledge of the socio-political environment of the country, especially West Kordofan and South Kordofan
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a humanitarian field, socio-economic development, humanitarian law, human rights or similar position
• Very good command of English, spoken and written
• Expert level in computer skills
• Skilled in the following competencies: Networking & Communication; Adapting & Learning; Responsibility & Autonomy; Communication (ability to express views and ideas); Analysis & Synthesis; Security Management
• Readiness to spend 50-75% of the time in the field, mainly South Kordofan
• Driving license
