Midwifery Focal Person

Background:
All pregnancies are considered to be at risk, although most pregnancies and births are free of adverse events. The negative character of pregnancy and childbirth studies have confirmed that 15% of pregnant women suffer from Complications that may threaten the life of the mother or child or both and require skilled care in a timely manner in particular, the number of births attended by children is 80% of total births.
On November 11, 1999, RH priorities were based on nutrition feedback from states, there were five guidelines, two of which concerned maternity services and early and emergency transfer services, these priorities have been reinforced by the findings of the Family Health Survey Sudan in 2006, which indicates a maternal mortality rate of 669 deaths per 100,000.
Live births are among the highest in the region, to reduce this high rate of maternal mortality at the national level, several work had to be done in order to ensure mother and fetal safety, the focus comes from the World Health Organization (WHO). High quality and skilled sanitary frames during delivery and the immediate stage after birth. It is undisputed that the midwife plays a key and growing role over time in providing services essential for mothers at all stages.

Terms of Reference:

  1. Development of Situation analysis of midwifery services and number of midwifery on states and conduct updates every 3 months.
  2. Development of Midwifery strategies, protocols and guidelines.
  3. Supervision and monitoring of the new Midwifery curriculum.  
  4. Supervision  of midwifes on states.
  5. Conduction and supervision of training.
  6. Meeting with Midwifery partners.
  7. Reporting.
  8. Any other tasks required by the Director.

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience:    

  • Medical doctor or nurse or nurse sister with Two years’ experience in reducing maternal and child mortality.
  • Two years’ experience in reducing maternal and child mortality.
  • English language proficiency.
  • Computer skills (especially microsoft excel).
