Background: To prepare and validate working standard calibration solutions for all quantitative analysis in order to provide and monitor comprehensive details of all methods followed to ensure the calibration process is under control and optimum instrument response is achieved. |

Duties and responsibilities: · Prepare and validate necessary standards, solutions, reagents, media, etc., required for sample analyses · Perform equipment and instrumentation set up · Operate basic and specialized laboratory instrumentation · Prepare and analyze samples · Accurately record observations and data and interpret results · Assists in the development and validation of new analytical methods · Assists in the development of new laboratory procedures · Contribute to writing, editing, and reviewing SOP’s · Monitor and address sample backlog issues · Perform peer review of data to ensure accuracy · Maintain accurate, up to date logs, notebooks and equipment records · Perform necessary laboratory administrative functions such as filing paperwork, photocopying, reviewing of data, and entering data into computerized LIMS Comply with and promote Personnel, Safety, and Quality Program

Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required: Qualification & Requirements’: · Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, or a related field of study · Certificate of Qualification as Assayer ( Not Essential ) · Minimum of 3years as a Chemist within the mining industry
Skills & Knowledge: · In-depth understanding of Inorganic Chemistry · MS Office proficiency · Familiarity with all common laboratory equipment (AAS, ICP, XRF, CS Analyzers, Colorimeters) · Numerate, analytical, attention to detail · Verbal communication, listening, professionalism, customer focused, organizing · Proficiency of Basic English · Computer literacy |
