 Background:

Under the guidance and supervision of the Team Leader and Administration Associate, the Driver provides reliable and safe driving services and clerical administrative support, ensuring high accuracy of work. The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, high sense of responsibility, courtesy, tact and the ability to work with people of different national and cultural backgrounds.  The Driver provides driving services and clerical administrative support to the operations and programme staff in the Office, Consultants and Experts and UN staff on mission.



 
 Duties and responsibilities:

  • Driver office vehicles for the transport of authorized personnel and cargo.
  • Delivery and collection of mail meet official personnel at airport and facilitate immigration and customs formalities.
  • Ensures cost-savings through proper use of vehicle through accurate maintenance of daily vehicle logs, provision of inputs to preparation of the vehicle maintenance plans and reports.
  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance of assigned vehicle.
  • Ensures availability of all the required documents/supplies including vehicle insurance, vehicle logs, office directory, map of the city/country, first aid kit, and necessary spare parts.
  • Logs official trips, daily mileage, oil changes, greasing, etc.
  • Ensures that all immediate actions required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  • Provide clerical support to Operations and Programme staff, such as: filing, photocopying, scanning, liaising to follow up on status payments.
  • Performs functions of a protocol, logistics and administrative support nature as required.
  • Other related duties as required.

 
 Minimum Qualification, Skills and Experience Required:

Academic Requirements:

Primary education, driver’s license, knowledge of driving rules and regulations, and skill in minor vehicle repair.

Experience:

Minimum two years’ work experience as a driver preferably with UN/INGOs or other Organizations. Being a resident of the area is an asset.

Languages:

Good working knowledge of English and Arabic.
